What it is
The Crew Motorfest is not a brand-new game in 2026: it launched on PlayStation, Xbox and PC on 14 September 2023. The Switch 2 version is the first Nintendo release, arriving in the UK on Thursday, 8 October 2026. It remains an always-connected open-world driving game built around a Hawaiian car festival, with races, themed campaigns, exploration and a large collection of cars, bikes, boats and aircraft. The Switch 2 edition is planned as a full version of Motorfest rather than a separate spin-off, but Ubisoft has not yet published its technical specifications or confirmed every platform-specific feature.

Story and setting
Motorfest is set in a driving festival spread across the Hawaiian archipelago. The established game centres on O‘ahu, including Honolulu, volcanic slopes, mountain roads, beaches and rainforest routes, while the free Season 5 expansion added Maui. It is a condensed game-world interpretation rather than a geographical simulation of the islands.
There is no separately announced, character-led story synopsis for the Switch 2 release. Instead, the main structure is a series of themed campaigns called Playlists. These frame different parts of car culture, including American muscle, Japanese street racing, electric performance cars, Porsche history and other motorsport traditions. Season 11 begins on 7 October 2026, adding the free island of Kauai and a new off-road-focused expedition campaign, immediately before the Switch 2 launch.
How it plays
The core appeal is the freedom to move between different types of driving. The game includes cars and motorcycles as well as boats and planes, with more than 800 vehicles advertised for the Switch 2 version. You can explore the islands in free drive, enter races and challenges, collect vehicles, customise them and work through Playlists that combine events with themed activities.
Motorfest also includes Grand Race, a large online event that mixes vehicle disciplines, Demolition Royale, Summit Contest competitions and the Custom Show. TrackForge lets players create and share driving events, while Ubisoft has announced further TrackForge expansion for Year 4. The Switch 2 announcement confirms solo play and community-created tracks, but does not describe any Switch 2-exclusive gameplay features.
Online play is central to the game. The existing Xbox listing specifies online co-op for two to four players and online multiplayer for two to 32, while Ubisoft confirms that an internet connection is required to play. Those player limits are not yet stated specifically for Switch 2, and Nintendo Switch Online requirements have not been published.
Switch 2 version, trailers and showcases
Ubisoft announced the Switch 2 release on 8 July 2026. Its announcement confirmed both a physical retail edition and a digital Nintendo eShop version, and highlighted the Hawaiian open world, Playlists, customisable vehicles and TrackForge. It did not give a resolution, frame-rate target, download size or performance mode.
The 9 September 2026 Nintendo Direct montage showed the game as part of its wider Switch 2 line-up. Nintendo described an archipelago with more than 800 vehicles, races and themed campaigns, confirming the 8 October release date. Ubisoft’s 17 September 2026 Crew Showcase then presented Year 4: Kauai, the Bugatti Tourbillon, the Tomb Raider: Secrets of Ni‘ihau premium adventure, new TrackForge tools and future seasons. It also confirmed that Motorfest is coming to Switch 2 with the full Motorfest experience. No dedicated Switch 2 gameplay deep dive or launch-performance demonstration has been published by Ubisoft.
Platforms, editions and UK price
The Switch 2 release is confirmed for 8 October 2026, with the date applying in the UK. Ubisoft has not announced a UK release time; 8 October falls during British Summer Time. UK retailers currently list the Standard Edition at £44.99, including Currys and Amazon listings tracked by price-comparison services. That is the confirmed retailer price currently available, but Ubisoft has not published a separate Switch 2 UK RRP or announced any Deluxe, Gold or Ultimate Switch 2 edition.
The original game remains available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Ubisoft Connect, Epic Games Store and Steam. Existing platforms have Standard, Deluxe and Ultimate editions, plus Year Passes. Year 4 begins on 7 October 2026, but Ubisoft has not confirmed whether the Year 4 Pass or the Tomb Raider: Secrets of Ni‘ihau add-on will be sold separately on Switch 2, or whether either is included with the £44.99 release.
What we still don’t know
Ubisoft has not confirmed the Switch 2 version’s resolution, frame rate, visual settings, storage requirement, loading arrangements or whether it uses a game-key card. It has also not clarified Switch 2 cross-play, cross-progression, voice chat, Nintendo Switch Online requirements or whether the console version launches with exactly the same live content as the other platforms.
The online requirement is clear: the Switch 2 announcement says an internet connection is needed to play. An offline mode for Motorfest has not been confirmed, so buyers should not expect to play it without a connection. A free trial exists on existing platforms, but Ubisoft has not said whether that trial will be offered on Switch 2.
