Story and setting

You play as Aidan, whose girlfriend Sunny has become trapped in the otherworldly Labyrinth. To reach her, he must use the Genesis Configuration, a mysterious puzzle box with powers that go well beyond opening a doorway to Hell. Aidan’s actions also unwittingly help begin a ritual intended to unleash greater pain and pleasure upon the world.

Pinhead is central to the story, with Doug Bradley returning to voice the character. The game was created with Clive Barker’s involvement and is presented as a new story within Hellraiser canon rather than a direct adaptation of one of the films. The confirmed setting includes the Labyrinth, cult-controlled locations and encounters with the Cenobites, as well as human enemies devoted to them.

How it plays

Revival combines exploration, puzzles, resource management and combat. The Genesis Configuration is both a story device and a practical tool: its supernatural abilities can manipulate the environment, throw objects, burn enemies and eventually unleash the Hell Chains. The box is also at the centre of reality-warping puzzles designed to make the Labyrinth itself feel unstable and hostile.

Combat uses melee weapons and firearms, with traps, scavenging and healing supplies also part of the survival loop. The 23 September gameplay overview showed players dodging attacks, searching for ammunition and medical items, laying traps and bartering for upgrades. Named enemies included Cultists, Runners, Bursters and the Unworthy. The official support page estimates a playthrough at roughly eight to twelve hours.

The game is single-player and can be played offline. There is no announced co-operative mode, competitive multiplayer or other online component.

Trailers and public showcases

The 22 July 2025 announcement trailer introduced Aidan, Sunny, the Genesis Configuration, Pinhead and the cult surrounding the Cenobites. The first gameplay trailer, released on 24 November 2025, showed the first-person combat, conventional weapons, grotesque enemies and the game’s deliberately adult tone. A developer diary on 13 December focused on the team’s approach to Hellraiser, Doug Bradley’s return and the planned collector’s editions.

The Love Story trailer on 11 February 2026 gave a more direct look at Aidan and Sunny’s relationship, the Labyrinth and the game’s mixture of sexual imagery, torture and body horror. The 16 June release-date trailer confirmed 8 October 2026 and showed more of the Genesis Configuration’s abilities, including destructive supernatural attacks. A 16 July developer diary concentrated on the horror design and the Cenobites.

A PlayStation Blog hands-on feature published on 19 August demonstrated the game’s reality-warping puzzle design, including a sequence involving the Chatterer. The latest four-minute gameplay overview, released on 23 September, brought the systems together: melee weapons, firearms, traps, scavenging, upgrades, enemy types, the Suffering resource and the Hell Chains.

Platforms, editions and UK price

The confirmed UK platforms are PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam. The Xbox UK Store lists the standard digital edition at £34.99 and the Deluxe Edition at £41.99. These are the currently confirmed UK digital prices; a separate UK price for the Nintendo Switch 2 or PlayStation versions has not been published in the sources checked.

The Deluxe Edition includes The Nailer melee weapon, Cenobite shotgun and Punisher baseball-bat skins, a Leviathan weapon charm, a digital art book, digital soundtrack, the Bleeding Hearts digital novella and an ’80s horror-film filter. Pre-ordering either digital edition adds the Labyrinth pistol skin and Martyr sawblade skin. Boss Team Games has also announced limited collector’s editions with physical Hellraiser items, but UK availability and pounds pricing have not been confirmed.

What remains unconfirmed

There is no confirmed UK physical standard edition, retailer-specific bonus, exact UK launch time or technical breakdown for PS5, Xbox Series X|S or Switch 2. The game is not listed as a confirmed day-one Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus release, so anyone planning to play at launch should assume a separate purchase is required unless the platform holders announce otherwise.

Saber’s support FAQ currently says there are no post-launch content plans. That is the latest official position, not a guarantee that downloadable content will never be made. No review scores are available yet, and the final performance of the console versions remains unconfirmed.
