What it is
Edge of Memories is Midgar Studio’s third-person action RPG set in the same wider universe as Edge of Eternity. It moves away from that game’s turn-based battles in favour of real-time combat, a colourful anime-inspired presentation and a story about a continent being consumed by a plague. It launches in the UK on Thursday 5 November 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. As of 27 September 2026, it remains unreleased, although pre-orders are open on PS5 and Xbox.

Story and setting
The game takes place on Avaris, a continent in the world of Heryon whose nomadic peoples have so far avoided the Corrosion. That changes as the disease spreads across the land, mutating humans, animals and plants into grotesque abominations. The Astryan continent has already been devastated, leaving Avaris as the next major front in the disaster.
You play as Eline, an itinerant Soul Whisperer who travels between settlements helping those affected by the Corrosion. After a mysterious encounter, she gains the ability to control the disease inside her own body. That power may be the key to stopping the apocalypse, but it also allows her to become a terrifying Black Beast. Eline is joined by Ysoris, an unlikely mentor and returning character from Edge of Eternity, and Kanta, a shaman prince from a lost tribe.
How it plays
Edge of Memories is built around fast real-time combat. Eline combines rapid and heavy attacks into combos, dodges incoming strikes and uses the abilities of her companions to break enemy defences or interrupt dangerous attacks. Kanta and Ysoris each bring elemental skills, and the player can customise their abilities rather than simply relying on Eline’s moveset.
The May 2026 gameplay overview showed a progression system based on Echoes, which are earned when Eline or her companions level up. Echoes unlock new combos, skills and abilities drawn from Eline’s fragmented memories. Players can prepare up to three tactical sets, each combining one of Eline’s passive abilities with two companion skills, then switch between them during play. Exploration includes riding a fast Nekaroo mount, climbing walls and reaching distant platforms, while companion abilities can destroy obstacles and help Ysoris operate ancient technology to open hidden areas.
Avaris is intended to change as the Corrosion spreads. Previously visited locations can become twisted, with new routes opening through the altered landscape. The soundtrack also adapts to what is happening, with music by Cédric Menendez, vocals from Emi Evans and a final theme from Yasunori Mitsuda.
Trailers and showcases
The announcement on 25 February 2025 introduced Avaris, the Corrosion, Eline and the move to a real-time action RPG made with Unreal Engine 5. A gameplay teaser followed on 6 March 2025, while the August 2025 gameplay trailer shown around the Future Games Show at Gamescom demonstrated Eline fighting alongside Kanta and Ysoris, chaining attacks and switching between combat abilities.
The story trailer released on 23 October 2025 focused on the desperate state of Avaris, Eline’s inner conflict and the dangerous Black Beast power. Nacon’s four-minute Gameplay Overview on 7 May 2026 was the most detailed systems presentation before launch, covering combat, exploration, Echo progression, companion skills and Nekaroo traversal. A free Steam demo released on 15 June 2026, offering the opening chapter and the basics of combat. The release-date trailer, published on 17 September 2026, confirmed the final 5 November launch.
Platforms, editions and UK price
The game is coming to PC via Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The UK PlayStation Store and Xbox Store list the Standard Edition at £34.99 and the Digital Deluxe Edition at £44.99. The Standard Edition includes the Legacy Costume Pack when pre-ordered. The Digital Deluxe Edition adds the Legacy Costume Pack, Nekaroo Costume Pack, French History Costume Pack, digital artbook and digital soundtrack.
Nacon’s UK shop lists physical PS5 and Xbox editions, with the Standard Edition at £39.99 and the Deluxe Edition at £49.99. The physical range includes a metal case, while the publisher’s shop also lists digital versions. PC pre-orders are not planned through Steam; the developer says PC buyers will receive the Legacy Costume Pack for a period after launch instead. The PS5 listing gives a 9.00am GMT release time, but a separate UK launch time for Xbox and PC has not been confirmed.
What we still don’t know
Nacon has not announced whether Edge of Memories will join PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass. It has also not confirmed the final Steam price for UK buyers, the precise PC and Xbox release times, or any post-launch expansion and patch schedule.
There is an unusual development caveat. Midgar Studio was ordered into liquidation in July 2026 after failing to find a buyer, but Nacon has continued to list Edge of Memories for release on 5 November. The game’s launch is therefore confirmed by the publisher, while its long-term support arrangements remain unclear. With no review version or final build available yet, the safest approach is to treat the release as a wait-and-see proposition rather than pre-ordering solely on the strength of the trailers.
Not yet confirmed
- Steam’s UK launch price and the exact PC release time have not been announced. The developer has said there will be no PC pre-orders and that PC buyers will receive the Legacy Costume Pack for a period after launch.
- PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass availability have not been announced.
- The exact Xbox launch time has not been confirmed separately from the PS5 listing’s 9.00am GMT time.
- Post-launch patches, technical support and downloadable content plans are unconfirmed. Midgar Studio was ordered into liquidation in July 2026, although Nacon continues to list the game for release on 5 November.
