The Switch 2 version of Hell is Us brings Rogue Factor’s bleak third-person action-adventure to Nintendo’s newer console on Thursday, 8 October 2026. The original game launched on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC in September 2025, but this is the first Nintendo version. It combines close-quarters combat, investigation and deliberately unguided exploration in Hadea, a country broken by civil war and a supernatural calamity.

Story and setting
You play as Rémi, a United Nations peacekeeper who goes absent without leave after being drawn to Hadea in search of his missing parents and answers about his past. The country is divided by civil war, while a mysterious calamity has produced supernatural creatures that conventional modern weapons cannot defeat. The result is a setting that mixes contemporary warfare with strange, almost mythic locations and cosmic-horror imagery.
The game’s central subject is human violence and the emotional forces that keep conflict going. The creatures are not simply monsters to clear from a map: the developers describe them as physical manifestations of human emotions, with enemies and dungeon themes linked to grief, rage, terror and ecstasy.
How it plays
Hell is Us takes place in a semi-open world viewed from a third-person perspective. Its defining feature is the absence of the usual navigation aids. There is no map, compass, quest marker or objective arrow directing you from one activity to the next. Progress depends on reading the environment, listening to characters, studying clues and working out where your investigation should lead.
Combat is built around melee weapons including swords, spears and axes, with equipment forged specifically to fight the calamity’s creatures. Rémi’s drone, KAPI, is both a companion and a practical tool in exploration and combat. The game includes environmental puzzles, conversations, hidden information and optional investigations, but it is not an online RPG or a conventional fighting game. It is a single-player action-adventure centred on discovery.
Trailers and showcases
Nacon announced Hell is Us on 12 April 2022 with a teaser that established the semi-open world, civil-war setting, search for the protagonist’s origins and Unreal Engine 5 development. The first substantial gameplay arrived during PlayStation’s State of Play on 24 September 2024, showing third-person exploration, melee combat and the decision to remove maps, quest markers and other conventional guidance.
A Nacon Connect investigation deep dive on 6 March 2025 focused on conversations, clues, secrets and the way players chart their own course. The 30 July 2025 trailer and accompanying PlayStation Blog interview introduced more of the Hollow Walkers, Hazes and emotionally themed dungeons, including the five Hollow Walker types and 27 enemy variants described by the creative director. Nacon’s story trailer on 20 August 2025 placed more emphasis on Rémi’s missing parents, Hadea and the civil war. A Switch 2 release-date trailer published on 7 May 2026 initially gave 24 September 2026 as the launch date; Nintendo UK now lists the corrected UK date as 8 October 2026.
Platforms, editions and UK price
The Nintendo version is exclusive to Switch 2 and supports handheld, tabletop and TV play. Nintendo UK lists both Standard and Deluxe editions, each rated PEGI 16, with English among the supported languages. Nacon’s UK shop lists a physical Standard Edition at £59.99 and is taking pre-orders. The Nintendo UK product page confirms the Deluxe Edition but does not expose a price in its text listing.
Deluxe includes the base game, the Hollow Walker Pack, the Phol Guard Pack and an exclusive investigation. The two packs provide alternative appearances for Rémi and KAPI. The original game is also available on PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC. On those platforms it is currently included in Xbox Game Pass and in the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium Game Catalogues, but those subscriptions do not apply to the Switch 2 version.
What we still do not know
Nacon and Nintendo have not confirmed the Switch 2 version’s resolution, frame-rate target, graphics modes, download requirements beyond the listed product information, or whether it has any platform-specific visual or control enhancements. A Switch 2 demo, save-transfer arrangements and any retailer-exclusive UK bonuses have also not been announced.
The exact UK eShop release time is unconfirmed, as is the price of the Switch 2 Deluxe Edition on Nintendo’s UK listing. The game is single-player only, with no announced multiplayer, co-op, competitive mode or cross-play.
Should you pre-order?
There is a clear reason to be interested if you want a self-directed mystery rather than another heavily signposted open-world adventure. The no-map approach, investigation mechanics and unusual setting give Hell is Us a distinct identity, while the Switch 2 version offers the convenience of playing it portably.
The sensible reason to wait is technical rather than creative. Switch 2 performance details are still unavailable, and the game’s combat and exploration balance will be familiar from the 2025 release rather than new to existing players. Until Nintendo-specific testing appears, pre-ordering is best reserved for readers already comfortable with the £59.99 physical price and the game’s intentionally hands-off design.
