What it is
Star Wars: Galactic Racer is an unreleased, runs-based racing adventure from Guildford studio Fuse Games, published by Secret Mode in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games. It launches worldwide on Tuesday, 6 October 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a story campaign, Arcade and Scenario events, plus competitive online racing. It is not a remake of Star Wars: Episode I: Racer, although podracing is one of its confirmed vehicle classes.
The game is built around risk, rivalries and repeat attempts rather than a traditional career ladder. You will race through the Outer Rim, build and tune different repulsorcraft, and decide how much danger to accept during each run. It remains unreleased as of 27 September 2026, so there is no finished review verdict yet.

Story and setting
The Empire has fallen and the New Republic is struggling to rebuild. In the lawless Outer Rim, gambling, entertainment and ambition give rise to the Galactic League, an unsanctioned racing circuit financed by syndicates. Its races are dangerous, lucrative and largely beyond official control.
You play as Shade, a mysterious racer pursuing both revenge and glory. Shade is drawn into a conflict with Kestar Bool, the League’s ruthless champion and a powerful figure within the Bool family. The story trailers also introduce Darius Pax, Shade’s recruiter, Hibi, an Ardennian mechanic who upgrades your vehicles, and Sebulba, the veteran podracer from The Phantom Menace. Confirmed locations include Jakku, Sentinel One, Ando Prime, Lantaana and the Derven Acos arena, with Tatooine’s Mos Espa Circuit appearing in podracing footage.
How it plays
Galactic Racer describes itself as runs-based racing. During a campaign tour, you choose between events and branching routes, weighing safer races against more dangerous opportunities for better rewards. Crashes can end a tour, sending you back to the beginning, while certain perks, parts and unlocks carry over into later attempts.
The driving is aggressive as well as fast. Landspeeders, speeder bikes, skim speeders and podracers each have different handling characteristics, physics and tactical strengths. You can slam, shunt and take down rivals, then use parts, abilities and upgrades to shape a craft around your preferred style. The skim speeder is a new Star Wars vehicle created for the game, while the podracers are presented as the fastest and most demanding class.
The single-player campaign is joined by Arcade and Scenario modes, including standalone challenges and time-focused events. The developer has also shown paddock areas where racers meet, issue challenges and visit Hibi’s workshop. The game can be played from first-person or third-person perspectives, although the emphasis remains on track racing rather than open-world exploration.
Online racing and modes
Yes, online multiplayer supports up to 12 players, with cross-platform play confirmed on the PC and Xbox listings. Online racing is built around competitive PvP, including multi-event tours in which drivers improve their vehicles between races before a final championship event. Podracing is also available online, alongside the other repulsorcraft classes.
The solo campaign and Arcade events can be played offline, while online multiplayer and connected leaderboard features require an internet connection. On PS5, PlayStation Plus is required for online play. Xbox console multiplayer requires Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate. There is no confirmed local split-screen mode.
Trailers and showcases
The December 2025 Game Awards reveal established the game’s Outer Rim setting, showed Jakku’s Star Destroyer graveyard and ended with a tease for Sebulba. The 12 February 2026 State of Play gameplay trailer expanded the picture with races on Sentinel One, Jakku, Ando Prime and Lantaana, while confirming the return of podracing through an appearance by Ben Quadinaros.
The 5 June 2026 Summer Game Fest story trailer focused on the campaign. It showed Shade’s rivalry with Kestar Bool, Hibi’s workshop, the Derven Acos arena and multiplayer podracing beyond Mos Espa. The 30 April release-date and pre-order announcement confirmed the 6 October launch, editions and bonuses. More recent developer videos in August and September explained the handling of landspeeders, speeder bikes and skim speeders, and discussed the game’s physics, responsiveness and sense of speed.
