What it is
The Duskbloods is FromSoftware’s online multiplayer action game for Nintendo Switch 2, built around eight-player PvPvE matches rather than a traditional single-player adventure. Players take control of the Bloodsworn, superhuman beings empowered by special blood, and compete against one another while dealing with hostile creatures, bosses and shifting events. It is scheduled for 2026, but Nintendo and FromSoftware have not announced a precise UK release date, launch time or price.

Story and setting
The Bloodsworn are vampire-like figures, although director Hidetaka Miyazaki says they are not intended as conventional horror monsters. They are summoned to the Twilight of Humanity, the point at which human society is approaching its end, to compete for First Blood. The title The Duskbloods refers collectively to these playable characters.
There is no single historical setting. The game moves between different times and places, including Gothic and Victorian environments and locations inspired by the closing years of the early modern period. The reveal trailer showed a train passing through one such setting. Blood is treated as a wider theme representing inherited history, power, fate and the characters’ escape from ordinary human limits.
How it plays
The Duskbloods is a third-person action game with online multiplayer at its centre. Each match supports up to eight players, who fight enemies and one another while pursuing victory points and other objectives. The basic aim is often to be the last player standing, but some scenarios instead focus on defeating a powerful boss or completing a different objective.
The Bloodsworn have unusually mobile abilities, including sprinting, high jumps and double jumps, while every character has both close-range and ranged attacks. Firearms feature alongside more fantastical weapons, and each Bloodsworn has distinctive skills. More than a dozen characters have been promised for the full game, with individual identities, appearances, weapons and limited customisation.
Matches begin from a hub where players choose and customise a character, then return there afterwards to use rewards and continue developing their build. Victory points can come from direct combat, exploration, opportunistic play and event objectives. Players can also summon supporting entities, form temporary alliances and take part in changing events that introduce new enemies, objectives or rewards.
Trailers and network test
The debut trailer, shown during the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct on 2 April 2025, established the game’s blood-soaked Gothic atmosphere and introduced the Bloodsworn, their weapons, supernatural movement and the conflict over First Blood. The accompanying interview with Miyazaki supplied the first confirmed details about the setting, eight-player PvPvE structure, character selection and hub-based match cycle.
A second public showcase appeared in Nintendo Direct 6.9.2026 on 9 June 2026. It showed more of the Bloodsworn fighting through enemy-filled environments, using individual weapons and abilities, occasionally cooperating and then turning on one another. The presentation also announced a closed network test. FromSoftware’s official guide for that test described four phases, eight summoned Bloodsworn, a final contest between three surviving contenders, character levelling, recruitable companions, exploration, alliances and changing battlefield events. The test ran from 21 to 24 August 2026 and featured the Roan Lou town map and six playable Bloodsworn, but its content should not be treated as the complete launch game.
Platforms, editions and UK price
The Duskbloods is confirmed exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2. FromSoftware is developing it, while the announcement press release describes Nintendo and FromSoftware as its publishers. Nintendo’s UK listing gives the game a provisional PEGI 16 rating and confirms TV, tabletop and handheld play, with English listed as the supported language.
No UK RRP, physical edition, digital price or retailer pre-order has been announced. The game is not listed for PlayStation, Xbox or PC, so Game Pass and PS Plus versions are not applicable. Online features require a Nintendo Account and a Nintendo Switch Online membership, sold separately. The UK listing also says that the game will not support Nintendo Switch Online save-data cloud backup.
What remains unconfirmed
The most important missing detail is the release date. Official listings still say only 2026, and the previously circulated 24 September 2026 date was specifically rejected by Nintendo. The 31 December date sometimes shown by retailers is a placeholder, not a confirmed UK launch date, so there is no reliable BST or GMT release time to report.
Nintendo’s shop information lists one player on a single system, but the confirmed design is online multiplayer-focused and neither Nintendo nor FromSoftware has clearly described a separate offline campaign, solo story route or bot mode for the finished game. The final character roster, map count, launch modes, post-release plans, technical performance and UK physical distribution also remain to be announced.

- The PEGI 16 rating is currently provisional rather than final.
