What it is
The Wolf Among Us Remastered brings Telltale’s dark Fables adventure to current consoles and PC on Thursday, 29 October 2026. It is a single-player detective thriller set in Fabletown, a hidden New York community where fairy-tale characters live among ordinary people. You play Bigby Wolf, the town’s sheriff, as he investigates a brutal murder and uncovers a conspiracy beneath the city’s uneasy surface.
This is the complete five-episode story rebuilt with improved visuals, animation, lighting, audio, interface and accessibility features. It also adds an optional black-and-white Noir Mode and more than an hour of behind-the-scenes material. The game is not available yet, and UK pricing and physical pre-order details have not been announced.

Story and setting
The story is inspired by DC’s Fables comic series and follows Bigby Wolf’s first major investigation in Fabletown. Characters from myth and legend have escaped their homelands and now live secretly in modern-day New York, using magical disguises called glamour to pass among humans. Bigby is responsible for keeping order, but his own violent reputation makes every investigation personal.
The case begins with a murder and grows into a wider conspiracy involving Fabletown’s residents and criminal underworld. The remaster includes all five episodes: Faith, Smoke and Mirrors, A Crooked Mile, In Sheep’s Clothing and Cry Wolf. It is a mature noir mystery rather than a new story or sequel, so returning players should expect the same central plot with a more modern presentation.
How it plays
The core remains Telltale’s choice-driven adventure format. You examine crime scenes, explore locations, question suspects and choose how Bigby responds in conversations and confrontations. Decisions affect relationships, later dialogue and whether Fabletown’s residents come to fear, trust or reject its sheriff. The game is built around investigation and narrative judgement, with action used to punctuate the detective work rather than replace it.
The remaster’s confirmed improvements include enhanced lighting, updated animation, refined environments, upgraded audio, higher resolution and frame-rate improvements, a modernised interface and accessibility updates. Noir Mode can be switched on at any time, presenting the entire story in black and white. The package also includes developer commentary, cast interviews, concept art, restored or deleted material, image galleries and other archival content.
Trailers and showcases
The announcement trailer, released by Telltale on 6 June 2026 during the Summer Game Fest period, confirmed the remaster and showed the updated Fabletown presentation, Bigby’s investigation and the return of the original five-episode story. At that stage, Telltale gave a Holiday 2026 window rather than a specific day. Telltale’s 15 June announcement then confirmed the full platform range, accessibility work, technical upgrades and more than an hour of bonus material.
Telltale’s 27 August 2026 Noir Mode trailer confirmed the 29 October release date. It showed the new black-and-white presentation, the ability to switch between Noir Mode and the remastered colour version, and further footage of investigations, interrogations and tense encounters. Gamescom 2026 demo footage and hands-on previews showed early sections including Bigby’s apartment, the Snow and Bufkin storybook sequence and the Woodsman confrontation, with both visual modes demonstrated.
Platforms, editions and UK price
The launch platforms confirmed by Telltale are PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. The UK PlayStation Store and Xbox Store pages are live, while the Steam page is accepting wishlists. The game is being developed and published by Telltale, with PM Studios supporting co-publishing, distribution and physical releases.
Telltale has confirmed that physical editions will follow later in the 2026 holiday season, but it has not announced their UK formats, contents, retailers or recommended retail prices. No UK digital price is currently listed either. The release date is confirmed for 29 October; an exact UK launch time and preload schedule have not been published.
What we still don’t know
The PEGI 18 rating is confirmed on the UK Xbox listing, with extreme violence and strong language cited as content descriptors. The game is also confirmed as single-player only, with no online multiplayer or co-operative mode.
Telltale has not confirmed inclusion with Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus. It has also not detailed platform-specific performance modes, PC system requirements beyond the basic Steam listing, save-transfer arrangements from the original game, upgrade policies or the precise contents of each physical edition. Those details may arrive closer to launch.
