Final Fantasy 8 Cheats

Hidden song:
Place the game disc in an audio CD player and play track two to hear the song “Eyes On Me” by Faye Wong.

Low level advantages:
Since the enemies level up as you do, try to keep your level as low as possible for easier battles. As long as your magic is good, defeating your opponents will not be a problem. Draw high level magic when your level is low to increase your status.

Increasing stats:
You can increase all your stats by using GF Eden’s Devour ability by eating the following:

Hp: Rinoa in Adel 10 HP, Ruby Dragon 10 HP
Str: T-Rexaur 1 Str
Vit: Adamantoise 1 Vit
Mag: Behemoth 1 Mag
Spr: Malboro 1 Spr
Spd: Pu Pu 1 Spd
Note: If you eat a Cactuar your health is fully replenished.

The following trick requires Doomtrain, Eden and Tonberry. You also need Doomtrains ability Forbid Med-RF, Edens ability GFAbl Med-RF, and Tonberrys Familiar and Call Shop abilities. You also need to have been to all of Esthers Shops. Go to Esther Pet Shop in the Call Shop ability, then buy either Giant’s Rings, Power Wrists, Force Armlets, or Hypno Crowns.

Refine them with GFAbl Med-RF into their next form:

10 Giant’s Rings to 1 Gaea’s Ring
10 Power Wrists to 1 Hyper Wrist
10 Force Armlets to 1 Magic Armlet
10 Hypno Crowns to 1 Royal Crown

Then, use the Forbid Med-RF to turn them into status-ups:

1 Gaea’s Ring to 1 HP Up
10 Hyper Wrists to 1 Str Up
10 Magic Armlets to 1 Spr Up
10 Royal Crowns to 1 Mag Up

It takes 150 000 000 gil just to get 100 of the status ups, each. Although this will take a long time, is shorter to do it this way then to eat monsters. You can also Refine Vit Ups by buying Vit-J Scrolls and using the GFAbl Med-RF to Refine 10 into 1 Orihalcan, then Refine 10 of those into 1 Adamantine, then use Forbid Med-RF to turn 5 of those into 1 Vit Up. You also can Refine Spd Ups by fighting a lot of Cactuars on Cactuar Island, and getting 100 Cactus Thorns then Refine them with GFAbl Med-RF to 1 Hundred Needles then Refine that using Forbid Med-RF, into 1 Spd Up.

To get Squall’s high HP early, learn Siren’s L-Mag-RF before you go to Timber. Get Squall to a high SeeD rank. Answer all the SeeD answers before going to Timber. Walk around the outside of Balamb until you get your pay. Enter Balamb and buy 10 Tents and refine them into 100 Curagas. learn Quezacolt’s HP-J ability and equip the 100 Curagea to his HP-J.

Use the following trick to get very strong early in the game. This can be done before or after your first trip to the Fire Cavern, but it will not be much help unless you have Ifrit, Str-J ability, and Siva’s I Mag-RF ability. Either way, go down to the shoreline and keep fighting the Fastitocalon-Fs that appear. Each set of two will yield 6 AP; and it would help to have Ifrit learn Str 20% while doing this. Sometimes they will drop Fish Fins, and with the I Mag-RF ability, each of these can be refined into 20 Water spells. Once five Fish Fins are collected, they will be equal to 100 Water spells. Water junctions incredibly well to any stat, and the best way to use the spell is to junction it all to Squall’s strength. With 100 Water, and Str 20%, Squall will be doing a massive amount of damage.

Use the following trick to obtain a 255 strength stat on Disc 1. It only works for one person(Squall recommended). Junction Shiva to a party member. She has the Str-J ability. Level up to level 30 or higher. Have Quezacotl learn the Card Mod ability. Have Ifirit learn all the strength boosting abilities (Str 20%, etc.) and Junction it to Squall or anyone else in your party. Win the Quistis card and the Zell card. Defeat Diablos by rubbing the magical lamp that Cid gave you. Have Diablos learn the Time Space magic refine ability. Using the Card Mod ability, turn the Quistis card into three Samantha Souls, and the Zell card into three Hyper Wrists. Use one Hyper Wrist on Ifrit so he can learn Str 60%. Turn the three Samantha Souls into Triples using the Time Space magic refine ability from Diablos. Give all these Triples to the desired party member. Junction Triple to Strength and the result is that your strength will skyrocket to at least 130 . To get to 255, use Ifirit’s Str 20, 40, or 60% abilities. If it does not work, junction Diabos to the party member, since he has the Ability x3 ability, allowing you to junction all three Strength boosters to the desired character. You should now have acquired maximum strength while still on Disc 1.

Easy gil:
Tonberry’s Haggle and Sell High abilities as well as Carbuncle’s Recovery Medicine Refining ability must be learned for this trick. Obtain 75,000 gil and by 100 Tents from any shop. Refine them into 25 Mega-Potions, which can be sold for 7,500 gil each. This results in a profit of 105,000 gil.

Battle Mezmerizes or refine their cards, you can use Carbuncle’s Recovery Medicine Refinement to turn each Mezmerize Blade into two Mega Potions. This more than triples the profits from the previous

Build a high speed level, the Rare item ability, hit at 255%, and a high strength stat. Go to Cactuar Island and fight Cactuars. You will usually acquire an item called Jet Engine, which can be sold for 150000 gil.

This trick requires the Recov-Med-RF. Go near the Trabia Garden. When you get there, you should that it is surrounded by mountains. Go to the opening of the mountains and find the area not covered with snow. Go on it and defeat a Mezmerize to get some Mezemrize Blades. Use the Recov-Med-RF ability on the Mezmerize Blades to transform one blade into two Mega Potions. You can either sell the Mega Potions for 5,000 gil or save them to cure yourself.

This trick works on Disc three with the Recov Med-RF. Go outside of Esther to encounter a monster called a Mesmerize. After you defeat it, you will get an item called the Mesmerize Blade. Get 100 of those and then use the Recov Med-RF on it to get 200 Mega Potions. Sell the 200 Mega Potions for 1,000,000 gil. This trick works better if you have the Mug ability.

Make sure you have good status defense, then fight Malboros. When you defeat them, you will most likely get either eight Malboro Tentacles or ten Curse Spikes. Use Siren’s St Med-RF ability to change one Curse Spike into one Remedy or one Malboro Tentacle into two Remedies. You can sell Remedies for about 375 each using Tonberry’s Sell-High ability. For example: 40 Remedies can get you an instant SeeD Rank A’s pay (30,000).

After the trip to Esthar, fight and mug a lot of Mesmerizes. Mug Mesmerize Blades from them. Use one of Carbuncle’s abilities to refine each blade for two Mega-Potions. Each will sell for 5,000 gil. Use Tonberry’s Sell High and Haggle abilities for more money.

The following trick requires the GFs, Tonberry and Carbuncle. You also need Tonberrys abilities Sell-High, Haggle, Call Shop, and Familiar, and Carbuncles ability Recov Med-RF. You also have to visit all of Esthers Shops. You can get all of this by Disc 3. Use Call Shop to access the Esther Shop, Buy at least 2 Cottages, then use the Recov Med-RF Ability to refine them all into Mega-Potions. Sell the Mega-Potions. The Cottages cost 1,800 gil or 1,350 gil with the Haggle ability (recommended). With the Sell-High ability you can sell each Mega-Potion for 7,500 gil but only 5,000 gil without it. You can do this trick with or without the Haggle or Sell-High abilities, but you make more money with them. Note: You can do this trick with Tents also, at the beginning of Disc 2 when you are Laguna. You can learn Carbuncles Recov Med-RF ability, then when you are at the D-District Prison you can buy Tents at the shop on Floor 8, then Refine them and sell the Mega-Potions.
kmt

This trick requires Quezacoatl’s Refine Med-RF ability. Buy 100 Tents for 100,000 Gil. Refine the tents into 25 Mega-Potions. Sell the Mega-Potions for 125,000 Gil. Your profit will be 25,000 Gil each time this is done. To make more money, you can also get Tonberry’s Haggle and Sell High.

This trick requires at least 4,000 Gil, the Carbuncle’s Recov Med-RF ability, and to speed up the trick, the Tonberry’s Call Shop, Haggle and Sell-High abilities. Buy four or more Tents at any shop and refine these into Mega-Potions with the Recov Med-RF ability. Then, sell it at a shop to obtain 5,000 Gil. With the Sell-High ability, you will obtain 7,500 Gil and with the Haggle ability, you need 3,000 Gil.

About the time when you can rent a car, get your SeeD rank to 19 or above. Buy about 6 or 7 Fuels and rent a car. Keep driving around where you can buy fuel until the fuel you have runs out. You will get about 3 SeeD paychecks, which will pay for the car, more fuel, with money left over.

Make sure that you have the Carbuncle GF and its ability Recov Med RF learned. It only requires 30 AP. Then, go out into a place where there is a large chance that you will encounter Mesmerizes in random battles (for example, at Esthar before the Lunar Cry or in Trabia’s Bika Snowfield near Trabia Garden). Use Diablos’ Mug ability to get Mezmerize Blades from them. Usually, you get two or six from each Mezmerize. Once you have 100 Mezmerize Blades, refine half with Recov Med-RF. You should now have 100 Mega-Potions. Each Mega-Potion can be sold to a store for 5,000 Gil. Sell your Mega Potions to acquire the 250,000 Gil. Then, refine the other 50 Mezmerize Blades into 100 Mega-Potions with Recov Med-RF. Sell them for 250,000 Gil, giving you a total profit of 500,000 Gil. Later, if you obtain the Tonberry GF (available anytime after the mobility of Balamb Garden) and teach it the Sell High ability, you can sell any item for 1.5% its original price and get even more of a profit.

Saving money:
This trick will save 50,000 Gil. When Balamb is under Galbadian control, go to Zell’s room and save the game. Go to the Harbor. You will find a Tabloid Reporter hiding behind military vehicles. Pay him for all the information he has then reset the game. You will have all the information, and still have your money.

Easy experience:
Equip one character with Auto-Haste, Initiative, and Junction 100 Pain spells to their attack. They will go first, and blind/poison/silence the target monster (this works well against Behemoths). Have another character cast Zombie on the helpless monster, and have the third character use the Revive ability on the Zombied monster. Behemoths cannot see to counter attack, and Silence keeps them from using their high-level magic. In all Final Fantasy games, undead monsters are injured by curative magic, and killed by Life spells, Phoenix Downs, etc. Use this technique when fighting the Behemoths in the Deep Sea Research Center on the south-western-most corner of the world map to accumulate experience and build your characters. Note: This only works on monsters that are susceptible to Death magic. Bosses are immune to this trick, as are Ruby Dragons and Imps. Those opponents must be killed by traditional means; however the Diablos summon kills most Imps in one hit.

When in the Disc 3, have Quistis in your party and have her life low or in the yellow. Go to the island on the far left of the world map and use Degenerator on all the enemies. This will result in easy experience for your party.

Before fighting sorceress Edea in the Galbadian Garden, go to the arena. Walk around on the ice, and you will eventually fight hockey players. They are easy to defeat and give you approximately 15 High Potions, with a lot of AP and experience points after each battle; which is necessary to defeat Edea.

Once you have Odin, (Odin and Gilgemesh GF), travel to the Island Closest To Hell. Get into a fight, run, and repeat until Odin appears. Odin appears once or twice every seven to ten battles.

Get the Level Up and Mad Rush abilities, and have 100 Blind and 100 Beserk junctioned to the characters’ Status Attack. Travel to Trabia and the Bika Snow Field. When you encounter the Snow Lion, attack him so that he is Berserked and Blinded. Alternately, use magic or draw his Berserk. Snow Lion will now attempt to attack your party, but fail. Use Lv Up on him until you cannot use it any more (starts to fail). Then, cast Mad Rush on your party then return between five to ten minutes later and he should be defeated. You will receive about three bars of EXP if you are on level 70 and even more bars if your level is lower.

Go the forest near Trabia Garden and fight a Snow Lion. It is usually accompanied with Bite Bugs. Cast Blind and Berserk on the Snow Lion then level it up to 100 with Tonberry’s Lv Up ability. Kill it to get 2000 to over 3000 experience points. Casting Mad Rush on you party members makes this faster, since they will attack by themselves.

After you acquire Shiva and Quezocoatal from the computer at the beginning of the game and are able to go to the beach outside the Garden, go there. Equip the GFs and set Shiva to learn Doom. Fight the Fastiticolon-F’s on the beach. You are guaranteed 6 AP from each battle. When Shiva learns Doom, go to training center in the Garden and equip Doom to your ability list. Run around the right side of the training center and fight T-Rexaurs repeatedly, using Doom on them. You will get plenty of experience, and 10 AP from each battle. When you get to about level 30, they will start to drop Star Fragments. This will only work when you are by yourself. A normal monster’s level is always around 10 levels below the person with the lowest level in your group. To fully utilize this, wait until you have the stat bonuses from the GFs and train at the training center until you are level 100.

You can easily get to a very level early in Disc 1, but it is time consuming. On your first SeeD mission, to the Dollet communications tower, you will fight an Anacondaur. This big snake gives you a large amount of experience per battle, and if you have your GF Shiva at a high level the battles should be easy. You can do it either here or in a small forest outside of Timber. It can take up to four to five hours to get up to level 100, but it makes the Boss battles on the first two discs easy.

Go to the Island Closest To Heaven with Quistis in your party. Keep her health in the yellow and use Degenerator in a battle. This will end the battle quickly and give you lots of experience. Keep doing this for each battle on the island and you will be at level 100 quickly.

The following trick can be used to obtain level 100 easily in Disc 1. When you reach Timber, go over to an area outside the city on the world map called Shenand Hill. It is a rocky area with a hidden Thundara Draw Point. Run around this area. The only monster you will fight are Vysages, Righty, and Lefty monsters. Mug and kill them. You will always easily get 800 to 1,100 experience points. They also drop rare items such as Lightweights and Life Rings which can be turned into powerful level 3 spells like Full Life and Haste.

Easy AP:
Start the game as usual and get Squall, Quistis and your GFs leveled up (over 20 for people with GF equipped). Complete the Ifrit sequence and go on to the regular Dollet Town mission. Finish everything up to the spider robot. Knock it out once, then when it begins repairing itself, use another summon (two if it takes that long to get back up), knock it out with a GF again, then run away as Zell suggests. This results in 50 AP points, which can be repeated as long as you watch the timer.

Take Balamb Garden to Edea’s house and go north until you find a large desert (Kashkabald desert). You can fight Cactuars, Chimeras, and Abyss Worms if you stay on the sand. Find a Cactuar or two, and kill them. Each one defeated will result in 20 AP, which is helpful for learning moves that require a lot of AP, such as Alexander’s Revive.

Have Quistis at very low life so she can Limit Break. Also have the Degenerator attack learned. Go to the Island Closet To Heaven or Hell (Hell recommended due to minimum status effect) and use it on the level 100 beast. Everyone should get at least one level up with every fight. This will always kill any monster besides a Boss. Repeat this to get all characters to level 100.

For an easy 400 AP points, when you fight the X-Atm092 you can get 50 AP points per battle. Although, your ranking will go down by 10% every time, you will still become a SeeD.

After getting the Ragnarok, go to Cactuar Island. Run around until you are confronted by a little Cactuar. Kill it quickly or it will escape. For each one you kill, you will get 20 AP.

Have Irvine with his health in the yellow at Cactaur Island. Make sure he has a very high speed or initiative ability. Get into a fight and have him use his Quick Shot. If done correctly, instead of only getting one with Squall, you can usually get three at a time, giving yourself 60 AP.

After you get your Garden moving can control it yourself, go to the southeast continent. Fly along the shore until you find a narrow passage where your Garden cannot fit through. Get out of the garden and walk through to go to a desert. Once there, you will find Cactaurs, Abyss Worms, and Chimeras. The Cactaur are worth 20 AP each and sometimes appear in groups of three. It is an easy kill, as they have low HP and defense.

After the Lunar Cry occurs, return to Esthar (before you see Edea). From the Airstation inside of Esthar, walk to the end of the screen. Then at the fork in the road, make a right. Go to the save point and save the game. You will be healed as well by the machine that the save point is inside. After that, walk until you reach the screen where three skytubes end. Walk up the road due north, and there will be another screen. There is another fork in the road here. Go right, but stay on this screen. There will be a black figure against the railing. Go up and talk to it. It should say “Heeheehahahee”. You will be forced into a fight with an Elnoyle. If you have not drawn 100 Holy, do so now. Cast Doomtrain on it and then attack with physicals. When it dies, it will give you 1000 EXP, 18 AP, and two Energy Crystals. Leave the screen and return. It will be back again, allowing you to repeat this procedure. It will always return as long as you do not move on to Disc 4.

At the beginning of the game, fight the Fasticalons on the beach. One fight nets you 6 AP. Use this to learn Shiva’s Ice Magic Refine skill to turn Fish Fins into Waters and junction them to your stats (Strength in particular). You will have an easier time with battles.

Use the following trick to get lots of AP quickly before your first visit to Galbadia Garden. Make sure Siren has learned Treatment. While it is not required, this will make the fights a lot easier. When you take the train to the East Academy Station, get off but do not go into the forest. This will trigger the Laguna dream and you will have to go through of that. Instead, go down to the beach near Timber. To the west of this beach is a plateau that has brown terrain near its foothills. You will frequently find the enemy Vysage here. He has two hands and a head, which are each separate targets. He also casts Darkness, Slow, Silence. and Confusion, but these can be negated with Treatment. Summon GFs a lot to defeat him easily. You will get 12 AP per battle. Be aware that you can also draw useful Esuna and Haste magic from the head, and the arms carry Blind, Drain, and Slow.

When you have the Ragnarok, go to Cactuar Island and fight the big cactus that pops out of the ground. When you fight it, use the magic called Meltdown if available. Then, attack it rapidly with Leviathan and Water. Also, use Squall’s Limit Break Renzokuken and Zell’s Limit Break Duel to damage the Jumbo Cactuar. You should at least have the “Twin Lance” Gunblade and the “Maverick” Gloves when you fight it. You should soon defeat it. You will get the Cactuar GF. Then, walk around the island and fight small Cactuars. They are very difficult to hit, but you will get 20 AP for each one defeated.

Easy AP and experience points:
Go to Cactaur Island earn 20 AP for each Cactaur that is defeated in battle. Cactaur Island is the small island covered by a desert.

Get the Tonberry GF and equip the Lv Up ability. Get Diablos and equip the Mug function. Use the Ragnarok to go to the top of the Vienne Mountains and fight the blue dragons. Use Lv Up, then Mug and he will automatically die. If he does not, repeat Lv Up and Mug. The experience from a maximum level Blue Dragon exceeds 1000 points. Note: Do not try this with anything else, as it may create a dangerous monster.

Display the world map and travel to the left-most island. It contains powerful monsters that can easily level up your characters after battles.

Once the Ragnarok is obtained, fly to the island closest to the east or west of the world map. The name of the islands should be Island Closest to Heaven or Island Closest to Hell. Defeat the difficult opponents here to accumulate AP and experience.

Use the following trick on Disc 3 or 4 to gain quick AP. When you get the Ragnarok, go to Cactus Island where you can get Cacture. Run around until you are fighting little cactuses, but make sure you have Auto-Haste junctioned. After winning the fight, you will get 20 AP from only one cactus. However, if you manage to defeat two or more you will get 40 to 60 AP.

9999 Health:
Get to level 43 or higher and draw or refine an item into 100 Curaga. Do not level up. Instead Junction 100 Curaga to HP. If you are not at 9999 HP, put on HP 20%, HP 40%, or HP 80 %.

Early health:
When you go to the Tomb of the Unknown King, get Brothers and their Cards. Use Quetzacoatl’s Card Mod ability on Sacred’s Card to get 100 Dino Bones. Then use Diablos’ TimeMag Refine ability to make 100 Quakes for each character. All of your characters should have 2000 health at around level 15.

Drawing magic:

At the start of the game, draw all the low level magic you want since you can refine it with Mid-Mag-Rf (a GF ability). However, since you get all the high level magic early, do not draw it from enemies (Firaga, Thundaga, Blizzaga, Triple, or Curaga). If you do and do not use up all of the mid level magic, you will not have enough room towards the end of the game to draw Flare, Ultima, Holy, or any other strong magic. When you receive Alexander from Sorcoress Edea after the Galbadian Garden/Balamb Garden battle (you must draw it from her), you will be able to make him learn High-Mag-Rf, which will let you refine mid to high level magic. The mid level magic is fine to this point, since you will get other magic such as Tornado, Meltdown, Reflect, and Quake to junction to your stats before then.

More HP:
Have magic Full-Life, learn GF HP-j and HP 80%. Equip Full-Life on HP Magic and have Ability HP 80% equipped.

Ending scene:
Allow the credits to complete after the final FMV sequence to see Squall and Rinoa.

Change the clock’s colors:
Accumulate 99 hours and 59 minutes of playing time. The clock will then start over, but now be in red numbers rather than white.

When you reach 99 hours and 59 minutes with red numbers, the color changes to blue. You can continue accumulating time to change the colors to yellow, green, then purple. The colors no longer change after reaching 99 hours and 59 minutes with purple numbers. This corresponds to 600 hours of game time.

Dancing soldiers on control panel:
PlayStation You can toy around a bit with the Missile Control Panel. Choose to go to the equipment inspection screen to see the equipment used by the Galbadian Army. Hold Triangle Square and press Up or Down. The scene will switch to either a dancing Galbadian Soldier or Elite Soldier.

Lunch Lady’s kid:

if you talked to the Lunch Lady to the left in the Garden, she will tell you about her son and how he went out on his own. You can actually meet him after the Boss Battle in FH (with BGH251F2). In this part of the game, you will be left alone. Meet up with Irvine at the top of the elevator, then go back the area where you just fought the Boss and talk to the teenager in yellow. If you ask if he is the Lunch Lady’s son he will board the Garden.

Eyes On Me instrumental version:
To hear the song “Eyes On Me” (instrumental version), hop in the Ragnorok or Flying Balamb Garden and fly to Shumi Village. Go to the Hotel/Inn and the song will be playing.

Angelo: Raising abilities:
To raise Angelo’s abilities, which are learned by the amount you have walked, go to Esthar, land the Ragnarok at the Airstation and run past the first screen. Turn left, and proceed to the Esthar Presidential Palace. When you get there, make your way back to the Airstation. That should be enough walking to trigger an ability.

Laguna: Lunatic Pandora doors:
When you become Laguna for the second time in the game (before Galbadia Garden) you will be in a weird Centra Ruin (its actually part of Lunatic Pandora). After walking around a bit you will end up in a room with three doors on the ground. Go to the upper right corner of the first one and you can break the handle. Leave, then return and try this on the one to the far right. It will not break yet. Also try it on the one to the far left. After that, you will reach a room near the exit and a little bomb is will be on the floor. Hit the red one first, then the blue/ The other doors will open now. You cannot do anything about this until on Disc 3, when you enter Lunatic Pandora with Zell and Edea. Find the room with three elevators, go down the third one, and take the stairs to the right. Climb down the ladder and head left. Keep going and you will end up in a room with the three doors Laguna worked with. You can now enter them and get some great items.

Laguna: Timber Maniacs page:
You can read the Timber Maniacs you find at the computer in Balamb (second floor class room). Go the Garden Festival page and there should be a page called Sir Laguna’s Page. You can only see it after you get Selphie back from the missile base mission.

Laguna: Traffic jam:

When you first enter Deling City as Laguna, go to the hotel, then immediately leave. There will be a traffic jam on all roads because Laguna parked in the middle of the road.

Quistis: Shockwave Pulsar:
To obtain the Blue magic Shockwave Pulsar, gain 100 Energy Crystals from either Elnoyles, Behemoths, or Ruby Dragons. Make sure you have GF Tonberry’s Rare Item ability first. Morph the Energy Crystals into a Dark Matter and give it to Quistis to learn Shockwave Pulsar.

Riona: Invincible Moon limit break:
Find the Pet Pals magazine with the Invincible Moon on it. Then click on it at Riona’s status screen. Leave it there and do not learn any more tricks. If you did not learn any tricks before that, every time you use Riona’s Limit Break it will be Invincible Moon instead of something less useful such as Angelo Cannon.

Selphie: Always get “The End” Limit:
PlayStation This trick can be used for an automatic kill for any enemy or Boss except for the undead. Whenever you get Selphie’s limit break in battle, open the PlayStation lid. The screen will glitch, but the area where you select Selphie’s limit will be intact. During this time the enemy will not attack. Take your time and scroll through the limits by pressing the Square repeatedly until you get her “The End” limit.

Zell: Pushups:
When you are in Disc 1 at the Galbadian Garden, find the area where students doing pushups. When you are leaving, go back to that hallway and you should see Zell also doing pushups.

Zell: Kickboxing:
On Disc 3 when you play as Zell, stand on the world map and do nothing. He starts to kickbox.

Zell: Entering his room:
When Balamb Town is invaded by Galbadia, go to the Inn. Once you cannot get in, go to Zell’s house and go to his room. He will let you in this time (and any other time after you cleared out Balamb).

Zell: Armageddon Fist:
To use Zell’s Armageddon Fist, simply use his two weakest moves (Punch Rush and Booya) repeatedly. It only takes fractions of seconds to do each move, and with good stats, each move does around 5000 HP damage. In four seconds you can do each move five times which is 50,000 damage. With 11 seconds, you can do over 150,000 damage. After casting Meltdown, Aura, and using only one Holy-War Omega Weapon can be defeated with 15 hits of Armageddon Fist only. Note: The strength stat should be at 255 for best results.

Zell: Burning Rave limit break:
Use the following order to get the Burning Rave: Punch Rush Mach Kick Punch Rush Burning Rave.

Zell: Best limit break:
Many people think that Squall’s limit Break “Lion Heart” is the best. It is, but it may be not the best limit break to depend on. The chance for using it is so low that it is hard to use more that once during a battle, especially when fighting Omega. The most dependable limit break is Zell’s limit break, but is restricted by time. His “Booya”, “Heel Drop” and “Punch Rush” are best used during the battle because they are the easiest to do. They have a sequence, which is “Booya”, followed by “Heel Drop” or “Punch Rush”, then return back to “Booya” again. It is useless to look at the list because they will always be there. If the sequence “Booya”, “Punch Rush”, “Booya” is followed, it will produce the best result. Since each attack cause about 4000 damages when the Zell’s Str is 230, 8 sec can takes 44 times damage. The total added damage will be 44 times 4000 (176,000). It is more than the damage of “Lion Heart”, which is 9999 times 17 (169,983), not counting the few slashes made before “Lion Heart”. Zell’s limit is guaranteed as long as you are fast enough.

Balamb Garden: Easy start:
When you first start the game and your objective is to go to the Fire Cavern, do not go there. Instead, equip Quistis with Shiva and give her Draw. Then, outside of Balamb Garden, have Squall and Quistis fight a Glacial Eye (blue skeletal flying creatures) and draw 100 for each of these: Cure, Blizzard, and Scan. You also may want to get 100 Fire from Bug Bites, and 100 Thunder from the Caterchapillers. Also if desired, before you go to get Quistis take Squall to the Training Area (while you are still inside the garden). Level him up twice and draw 100 Sleep from Grats, This will boost your Magic Stat by 12 points. Also for both Shiva and Quezacotl GFs, get enough AP from the Factiolation-Fs to get SumMag 10% and 20% and T-Mag RF, and Ice/Water Mag RF. When you finally enter the Fire Cavern, make sure that both characters are about level 14 to 15. This will help immensely during the first few missions. Note: This may take a long time, but all of the leveling up will pay off. Also, do not forget to go into Config optoin in the menu and set the all the battle meters to 100% to quicken things.

Balamb Garden: Quick movement:
When first at Balamb Garden, after you give the tour to Selphie, approach the the directory and press Action. When the directory screen appears, move the pointer to where to wish to go and press Action. You will appear in the hallway in front of that location. Note: This only works at the beginning of the game.

Dollet: Secret location:
In Dollet, play the pub owner in a card game. He is an easy opponent. When you defeat him, you get to go to his “secret place”. Try to get his Siren card from him.

and also get hit by it. The game will continue afterwards.

3. Heath Peninsula, east of Trabia Garden
4. Kashkabald Desert.

After sighting all four, fly the Ragnarok to the rocky cliffs above the Chocobo Shrine. Encounter a UFO and defeat it. Then, head to the crater where Balamb Garden used to be. You will encounter a PuPu. Feed him five elixirs and you will be rewarded. Its only a level 5 card, but is definitely the hardest card to find.

Find Ko-Chocobo card in Disc 4:
In order to find this card, you must have defeated all the CC group members, the Card King, and have met at least one time with the Card Queen. On the chain in Altemisia’s Castle, head to the northern door (nearest to the castle) to return to the world map. There is a Chocobo forest near here. Go and get a Chocobo, then head to the island where you found Edea’s home. There is a desert on this island where you will find the Ragnarok. Enter and you will find Shu near the entrance. Start a card game with her after the short dialogue, . Save before playing against her, as she is a difficult opponent.

Find level 6 and 7 Boss Cards:
On Disc 2 in Fisherman’s Horizon, immediately after saving Mayor Dobe, when Squall decides to look around by himself, go back to the mayor’s house. Go to the right of the house where Squall and Rinoa will sit and talk. Martine will be there. He has a lot of level 6 and 7 Boss Cards. Be careful though, as he is a very good player and has a lot of good cards; He “confiscated all the cards from the students at Galbadia Garden.” He will want to play for just one card, though. It will be to your benefit if you can push the rules to be diff.

Alex Kilpatrick:
To get all the level 6 Boss Cards early, go to the classroom in Galbadia Garden. Its a good idea to have a good team of cards before you do this, with some GF cards (for example, Diablos, Ifrit, Angelo, Malboro and Granaldo). When Squall leaves the visitors room in a huff, explore the Garden. There are two classrooms. One of them has three people in it. They all talk about cards and they all play. The girl has all 10ten of the level 6 Boss Cards. Using skill, sense, and a few good cards, you can get all the level 6 cards within thirty minutes. Get as many as possible because they refine into useful items.

Find level 8 Chicobo Card:
Go to the beginners Chocobo Forest and find the mother Chocobo. Use the “Zinner” for finding Chocobo’s and listen carefully until you heae a sound. Use the “Zinner” again to “Catch Chocobo” and the mother Chocobo will dig up some items for you. Repeat this at all six Chicobo forests, then head to the Chocobo Sanctuary in Esthar. By using the mother Chocobo you get in the Chocobo forest on Lenown Plains in Centra. When you arrive, all the mother Chicobos will do a dance. Talk to the baby Chocobo and he will give you the card.

Locations for Chocobo forests:
Tribia Peninsula, winter island
Tribia Peninsula, Sorbald Snowfield
Tribia Peninsula, Bika Snowfield
Centra Peninsula, Nectar Island
Centra Peninsula, Lenown Plains
Esthar Peninsula, Talle Mountains

Find the Gilgamesh Card for Holy Wars:
It is very easy to get Gilgamesh’s Card to get Holy Wars. If you have gotten the card before Disc 4 from Card King, refine it into 10 Holy Wars when you reache the Ragnarok in Disc 4. Make sure the rule use earlier is not too complicated. Open, Sudden Death, Elemental are acceptable. “Same” is still acceptable, but if “Plus” or “Random” is applied, it will be more difficult. Both Xu and Quistis have the card in the Ragnarok. It is up to you to play with either of them, but since Xu uses the rule applied earlier, it is an advantage to play with her instead of Quistis (who uses all the rules). Xu uses the card very frequently; if it is not in your hand. It is possible to get 100 Holy Wars by this method.

Card mods:
Abbys Worm: 1 for 1 Windmill
Adamatoise: 3 for 1 Turtle Shell
Anacondour: 1 for 1 Venom Fang
Angelo: 1 for 100 Elixers
Bahamut: 1 for 100 Megalixers
Belhelmel: 1 for 1 Saw Blade
Bite Bug: 1 for 1 M: Stone Peice
Blitz: 1 for 1 Dynamo Stone
Bomb: 1 for 1 Bomb Fragment
Cactuar: 1 for 1 Cactus Thorn
Cocatrice: 1 for 1 Cocatrice Pinion
Creeps: 1 for 1 Coral Fragment

Regaining modded cards:

Refine the rare cards desired, but not all of them. Defeat the Card Club Group before time compression occurs (when you fight the fake Sorceresses). Get the Ragnarok on Disc 4. Re-challenge all of the Card Club members. If you are lucky, your card will re-appear in somebody’s hand in the group. Note: This may not work with the character cards or level 9 GF cards.

Card game tips:
Save the game before playing an opponent you have not played before. If you use rare cards someone might defeat you and take them. Card many enemies so that you can card-mod them to get items. Also, play many people to get items, such as wizard stones. Never give up a rare card – keep trying until you are successful. Be patient if you cannot card a good enemy, just keep trying.

Once you get Quistis and some Bomb cards, go to Balamb near the docks. You will see a man leaning over or a girl and a dog in the area. Challenge them for level 5 cards. To create the best strategy for them, have 3 Marlboros, one Elastoise, and one Biggs and Wedge. First, use one Marlboro to the DL corner. Use another to the CL. Use the Elastoise to either the UR or CR corner. Do the CR only if you cannot place it UR. Then, depending on where they put their last card, is where you should use the Biggs and Wedge card or the final Marlboro card. Using this strategy, you will never lose with these two opponents. The worst you can do is tie. However, this is only for the beginning parts of the game. The best time to do this is immediately after the Fire Caves. You can get Squall’s second best sword easily by doing this at the very beginning of the game.

Missed cards:
The following trick can be used to get cards missed during the CC Quest and the Queen of Cards Quest. On Disc 4, all the CC members are scattered around the Ragnorok, but only if you have defeated the CC King earlier in the game. To get cards missed in the Queen of Cards Quest, you will find the Queen on the southern peninsula of the Esthar continent. She is not visible on the world map, so you will have to do some searching. Note: The CC members use various rules from around the world. The Queen will always use all the rules.

You can find the Card Queen on the Abadan Plains, south of Esthar. She will have any card you would have obtained during the Queen of Cards side quest in the previous discs. Go to any of the CC members or the Card Queen and win any rare card from him/her. Using Quezacotl’s Card Mod ability, you can refine it into a rare item(s). Repeat this to get many rare items.

To complete your card collection, in disc three, go to Dargeleo and play cards with a red-haired man (he owns all the ship cards). Then, in disc four, go to Treno and enter the card club. Every card-player has different kind of card (i.e. Mobols, Summons, Bugs, etc.)

You can initially get Angelo’s card from Watts at Forest Owl’s train. If you missed that opportunity, you can get it at the White SeeD Ship from Watts.

Go to Shumi Village. Go to the elevator to the city and face Artisan. He has Boss cards such Tiamat, and even better ones.

Get a card back:
To get a card back, challenge your opponent again. There is a 50% chance that he or she might use the card you lost.

Obtaining rare cards:
To obtain rare cards like Iguon, Tri-point, Gargantua, Jumbo Cactuar, etc. just look at the bottom right corner of your card stats when you win one. A list of two monsters will appear. Keep carding the first monster until you get the card which has the monster listed. Once you have got the card and you want another one, keep carding the second monster until you get one. Then, repeat this process.

Jordan Craw:
When you are about to get a rare card (Minimog, Qustis, Zell, ect.), save your game. There is a good chance that your opponent will use that card again.

Early cards:
For some early cards, make sure you talk to the man on the second floor near the elevator. He will give you some starting cards allowing you to begin playing people from this point forward.

Easily removing one card game rule:
Go to the region that you want to remove the rule. Ask people to play the game. After the menu that shows the region, “Trade Rule” will appear. Quit the card game without playing. Repeat this several times until the menu displays that the rule “… is abandoned from this region”.

Do not get a hard card rule in a new region:
When you go to a new region and ask a card player to play, he/she will say “I seem you know the rules of this unfamiliar region, let’s play with ???’s rule”. Do not accept the challenge, and talk to the player several times until he/she only says the desired rule before accepting the challenge.

Easy Card Queen’s quest:
The Card Queen quest may be difficult part of the game because of her random movements and her difficulty as an opponent. Use the following information to save time. You should know that she wants the Minimog, Sacred, Doomtrain, Kochocobo and Alexander cards. When you play against her, you should give her every card she wants in as few card games as possible. When she finally goes to Dollet she will reveal all the locations of the rare cards at once. There is a small probability that she will head to Dollet when you give her one of the previously mentioned cards. If you want to save time again, keep in mind that:

When she is in Balamb, she will probably go to Deling City (but sometimes if you lose the Siren card to her she might go to Dollet).
When she is in Deling City, she will probably go to F.H.
When she is in Dollet, she will probably go to Deling City.
When she is in the Shumi village, she will probably go to Dollet (and sometimes Deling City)
When she is in Winhill, she will probably go to Esthar.
When she is in Esthar, she will probably go to the space.
But when she is in the space, she will probably go to a random place.

To get the five cards from The Card Queen herself, do not challenge her until Disc 4. Then, find the aircraft and find Tear’s Point. Go southwest of Tear’s Point and find the crash site. In there, you will find the Queen. Challenge her in that site and all five cards are easy pickings. Be careful as she will kill you if you are a dumb player. Also, when you lose a precious card the PuPu, Level 8-10 Cards, you might okay. That player will play the same card you lost in the next game. Just challenge the person again and depending on your luck you may win the card back.

Play cards with Zell:
When Squall takes charge of Balamb Garden, compose a party without Zell. If you go to the first floor, you will find him near the library. You can now play cards with him. He is not a great opponent and he does not have good cards.

Getting the Debuchchocobo card in Disc 4:
Defeat all the CC group members, the Card King, and meet at least one time with the Card Queen. On the chain in Altemisia’s Castle, head to the northern door (nearest to the castle) and you will find yourself on the world map. There’s a chocobo forest near here. Get a chocobo, then head to the island where you found Edea’s home. There is a desert on this island where you will find the Ragnarok. Go in and have a card game against CC group Diamond (the two girls that always talked each other at Balamb Garden in the main hall). To find them, head to the control room. Take the elevator and go straight ahead after the CC group Joker. Take the stairs on the right.

Easy opponent:
Go to Timber. In the back alley that leads to the TV tower is a drunk lying on the side of the streets. He is a terrible opponent and is extremely easy to card, but also has good cards. Since he is next to a save point, if you lose to him you can reset to recover the lost card.

Guardian Force locations:
Alexander: Draw from Edea at the end of Disc 2.
Bahamut: Go to Battleship Island (in the lower left part of the world map). You must have the Ragnorak. Land there and go inside. Walk only when the light is not flashing. Head to the core. Bahamut will ask questions. First, answer “It’s not our will to fight”. Battle the Ruby Dragon, then answer “Never”. Battle another Ruby Dragon, then answer “It’s our nature”. It is the third choice; hidden under “None of your business”. Defeat Bahamut and he will join you.
Brothers: Defeat them in The “Tomb of the Unkown King” outside Deling.
Cactuar: Use Ragnarok to fly to the island on the outside of a desert; you will see a cactus teleporting around. Walk up to it. Be careful, as its 10,000 needles do 100,000 damage.
Carbuncle: Draw from Gargoyle/Lizard bosses attacking Rinoa at end of Disc 1.
Cerberus: Draw from Cerberus during the Galbadia Garden invasion. He is at the center glowing circle near the entrance. Alternately, defeat him in Galbadia Garden during Disc 2.
Chocobo: Catch and name a Chocobo, then use Item Gysahl Greens during a battle.
Diablos: Before going to Timber, talk to headmaster Cid until you get the Magic Lamp. Save the game, use the lamp, and defeat Diablos. Draw and store Demi then cast it. Do not draw and immediately cast, as he will not cast Curaga on your character.

Get the “Solomons Ring” from Tears Point before Lunatic Pandora is summoned. A recommended time to do so is right before you are supposed to meet Dr. Odine at the Launch Pad. Then, “Mug” Marlboros outside the Sorceress Shrine until you have six Marlboro Tentacles. Note: Marlboros are also at the Island Closest to Heaven. Purchase 60 Remedies and use Alexander’s “Med Lev Up” skill to make six Remedy s. Get six Iron Pipes by using “Mug on the yellow/green monkey monsters outside Deling. Note: If you cannot get back to Deling you may have to wait until after you have the Ragnarok to obtain them. After getting all the items use the Solomon Ring from the item menu to receive Doomtrain.
To get Doomtrain, go to Tears Point. And you will find a ring called Solomon Ring at Tear’s Point in Esther. You will also need six of the following items. Malboro Tentacles, Remedy , and Steel Pipes. Then, go to your item menu and select the item Solomon Ring. Once you select this, Solomon will automatically join you. You do not need to battle him. Solomon’s useful abilities are Elem-Atk-j, ST-Atk-j, Elem-Def-Jx4, and Def-Jx4. Another great ability is Forbid Med-RF. It is difficult to get the items for it. Junk Shop is a bit more practical, but should not really be a priority until Disc 4.

Eden: After defeating Bahamut, return to the Ragnorak and enter the cockpit. Return to Battleship Island with Zell in your party. Go down the roots and examine the machine. After it uses the 4 RSP, go down a level. Use 1 RSP on every level until you reach the machinery which Zell ask to handle. Let him and he will open the door to the excavation site. Prepare for some very hard battles and go down to the very end. You should have at least 10 RSP. Activate the machine to battle Ultima Weapon. Draw Eden from it.
Gilgamesh: Get Odin before the end of Disc 3 and Seifer will kill him. Gilgamesh will replace him.
Ifrit: Defeat him in the Fire Cavern outside Balamb Garden as partof the test.
Leviathan: Draw from NORG after destroying his pods.
Minimog: (PocketStation required) Receive Minimog during “Chocobo Adventure” PocketStation mini-game.
Mumba: (PocketStation required) Defeat “Chocobo Adventure”.
Odin: Defeat him in Centra Ruins.
Pandemona: Draw from Fuijin in the battle with Fuijin and Raijin in Balamb Town.
Phoenix: Use the Phoenix Pinion item during a battle.
Quezacotl: From Squall’s computer in the classroom at the start of the game.
Shiva: From Squall’s computer in the classroom at the start of the game.
Siren: Draw from the Boss at the top of Dollet Satellite during the SeeD exam.
Tonberry: Defeat Odin. Then fight 20 Tonberrys at top of elevator or open place, not at torch lit place at its base. You will fight the Tonberry King.

Drawing GFs:
One of the most commonly overlooked things to do in a heated battle is drawing from Bosses. By using the Draw command, you may find a hidden GF in a Boss. Try drawing from the Evorlet in disc 1 to find Siren. Draw Leviathan from Norg in disc 2. Draw Pandemonia during the battle with Fujin and Rajin in disc 2. Draw Alexander from Edea during the second battle with her. Draw Eden from Ultima Weapon on the artificial island where Bahumut was defeated.

Once the Ragnarok is obtained, fly to the bottom left corner of the world map. Set down on the landing spot to find a small artificial island. Enter and defeat Bahumut to obtain that GF.

How to defeat Bahumut:
Get your Str up to 255, junction GF Cactuar, and learn the Kamikazi ability. Kill the three dragons using Aura and Diablos, as it takes 9999 off of them. Simply cure to full health if any health is lost and Kamikazi yourself. It will take 60,000 damage and defeat Bahumut.

Fly to the research center in the southwest bottom corner of the map if you have not been there before. Zell will say something when he is finished. Go in. Note: You must be at level 80 or above and have Ragnorok. When you defeat three Ruby Dragons and another message appears, press Triangle. Put Aura on Irvine and use AP or Pulse ammunition. About nine or eleven shots will kill him.

Getting Brothers:
Go to the east of Delling City to the Tomb Of The Unknown King. Use the following directions straight from going into the tomb.

Go forward once, then turn right.
Take the turn, then take a right.
Go up once, and take a right. Then, go forward until you fight Sacred.
After defeating Sacred, go out of the room and go forward once.
Take a right, go around the turn, then take a right.
Go forward and take a right. Keep going forward and release the flood gate.
Leave the room and go forward until you reach a dead end.
Go back once and take a left.
Go forward twice and take a left.
Go until you can take a right and do so.
Go forward twice and activate the switch in the back.
Go out of the room and go forward to the dead end.
Go back to the first junction.
Take a left and keep taking lefts until you find a drawbridge.
Go across the bridge and battle Sacred and Minotaur. Defeat them and they will join you.

Summoning Carbuncle quickly:
Get the Dragon Skin item to decrease the summoning time for Carbuncle.

Choosing Gilgamesh’s sword:
In any battle that Gilgamesh is summoned, when his four swords come down from the sky and stick into the ground, rapidly press the D-pad toward the sword you want him to use. If done correctly, he will use that sword.

How to defeat Cerebus:
If you have Squall’s Gunblade, take at least 1000 damage with or with out pressing R1. Cast Mad Rush on everyone and take heavy blows on him. Make sure that your HP levels are fairly high, and your other party members are able to take at least 400 of damage.

How to defeat
Diablos:
First, cast Blind on him. Follow this by drawing Demi spell into your inventory. From your spell inventory, cast the Demis on Diablos. Diablos will respond by casting Curaga on that character. Note: This will not work if you do not stock his Demis.

Cast Protect and Shell on your characters and then use the Siren, Shiva and Queezacotl GF.

After getting the Lamp from Headmaster Cid and using it, make sure your party has Draw equiped. When fighting Diablos, use draw to get ?????. It is Demi. Keep casting Demi on Diablos until it does almost no damage, then use some of your GFs to defeat him.

Wait until you get Carbuncle from the Iguions, then fight Diablos. When you start the battle, automatically take out Carbuncle so he will use Reflect then use Blind so he will not ram you when he is mad. Next, summon Shiva a couple of times. After that, he will use Demi which is very effective against him. Use your GFs or Scan Diablos to see how many times you have to hit him.

When you are ready to use the magical lamp and fight Diablos, make sure you have Quistis with the Missile limit break acquired by using the Missile item. When in the battle, have Quistis limit break. Use the Missile limit break and it can do as much 9,999 HP damage. The least amount of damage should be about 3,200 HP. Diablos only has about 21,000 HP.

Summoning Diablos quickly:
Get the Steel Orb item to decrease the summoning time for Diablos.

Getting Eden easily:
Do not worry about the Ultimate Weapon if you have reached Disc 4. Go through the Bosses in Ultimecia’s castle as intended. When you reach Tiamat, you can draw Eden from him without having to go through the Ultimate Weapon. You can also draw Leviathan and Siren from the Bosses in Ultimecia’s Castle.

Michael Brown and Riven Boy:
Make sure you have Auras and Lion Heart. Once you find your way to the Ultima Weapon, save at the secret save point. When you enter the battle, draw Eden immediately. Then use Aura on Squall and use his limit break. If the final is Lion Heart, and results 9999 damage per hit, Ultima Weapon will be defeated. You may want to use Light Pillar on each character because Ultima Weapon’s speed is incredible.

Do over 9999 damage with Eden:
Get Eden on a hidden island at the bottom left corner of the map. Draw Eden from Ultima Weapon. After getting Eden, let it learn the Boost ability. After that, fight any monster and keep pressing Square. Get to 250 times by pressing Square. After that, keeping pressing Square, but the number will not increase. Wait until you cannot boost any further and watch the damage. It should be between 19,000 to 36,000, depending on what Eden’s level.

How to defeat Ifrit:
Go to the forest outside the fire cavern and draw Blizzard from the caterpillar creature. When going to battle Ifrit, make sure one of the abilities for the character with Blizzard has the ability Magic and the other has Shiva equipped. When fighting him. use the Blizzards and summon Shiva simultaneously.

Getting Ifrit’s Calling Card:
Enter the Fire Cavern and choose a 30 minute time limit. Have a character with Shiva and another character with Lightning before reaching Ifrit. Keep the character with Shiva attacking while the other character casts Lightning.

How to defeat Jumbo Cactuar:
Have 3000 HP, and a weapon that takes at least 1000-2000 damage. First, cast Cerberus, and have Triple available. Cast three protects on your party as well as Regen. Cast Berserk and Haste on the person who has the best attack and weapon. That character will take about 9999 before Cactuar uses 10,000 needles. Cast Full-Life on the character that was killed, then cast Aura on your party. Keep attacking with everything available until Jumbo Cactuar is defeated. To help even more, junction Ultima to Rinoa’s Mag to increase it over 100 , then cast Angel Wing. If she casts Meteor it will take off 4000 to 5000 with each hit.

Junction all your character’s weapons with 100 Water magic and have their strength at 255, and body strength at 200. Have Life 2 magic or Alexander’s Revive on every character. Have Meltdown and Magic Command equipped on one character. Enter the battle. Cast Meltdown on the Cactuar, then just attack. You should deal 9999 damage on each turn. After ten hits, Jumbo Cactuar should be defeated. For an easier battle, cast Meltdown first, then use Renzokuken. One turn will be enough. Do not worry about his 10000 Needles attack, as you should have Recovery or Life 2. Revive the dead character and keep attacking.

This battle is about quick thinking and timed attacks. The party you should use should have Squall, Rinoa, and Quistis. If you have been training Zell instead of Quistis, you can substitute him for her. In preparation for this battle, have Squall’s strength anywhere above 200, and have his attack junctioned with Water. You also must have the Lion Heart Limit Break and have him equipped with the Darkside Command. Rinoa should have plenty of Aura spells and either Recover or Revive. The character that does not have Revive must have plenty of Life and Full Life spells. Quistis should have which ever Command Rinoa does not have. She should also have plenty of Aura spells. Quistis also must have the Blue Magic Mighty Guard, which can be obtained from Behemoths in the Deep Sea Research Center.
