Grand Theft Auto 3 Cheats

Cheat Codes:
Enter one of the following codes during game play to activate the corresponding cheat.

The codes can also be activated at the menu screen (press [Esc] during game play) to avoid having your character moving around while they are being entered.

Note: Codes can be entered multiple times. For example, keep typing gunsgunsguns etc. to have more ammunition as well as all guns. The giveusatank code can only be activated four times.

Unlimited ammunition:
Hold the pistol and enable the gunsgunsguns repeatedly. You will eventually have unlimited ammunition for any gun that you have to reload. If you are wasted or busted, the code must be repeated.

Ammunition limit:
Activating the gunsgunsguns code repeatedly does not give you unlimited ammunition. To demonstrate this, take out a gun and keep enabling the gunsgunsguns code until you have as close to 9,999 rounds as possible. Then, enable the code one more time and you will not be able to see it anymore. Keep shooting your gun. After awhile, you will see your ammunition count again.

Change car attributes:
Note: This procedure involves editing a game file; create a backup before proceeding. Use a text editor to edit the “handling.cfg” file in the ”
ockstar gamesgta3data” folder. You can change the various attributes (speed, weight, etc.) of any car. Read the text in the “handling.cfg” file for an explanation of what can be changed.

Change weapon attributes:
Note: This procedure involves editing a game file; create a backup before proceeding. Use a text editor to edit the “weapon.cfg” file in the “data” sub-folder in the game directory. You can change the various attributes (reload time, ammunition, damage, etc.) of any weapon . Read the text in the “weapon.cfg” file for an explanation of what can be changed.

Increase car acceleration:
Note: This procedure involves editing a game file; create a backup before proceeding. Use a text editor to edit the “handling.cfg” file in the “data” sub-folder in the game directory. When you open that file, you will see a table which has vehicle names in rows (Such as LANDSTAL, IDAHO, STINGER, etc.) and alphabetic characters in columns. For example, to increase the maximum speed and acceleration of the Rhino tank, choose column N, Row “RHINO” and change its value to “200.0”. This will set the Rhino tank’s maximum speed to 200K mph . Select column O in the same row and change its value to “33.0” ,which will make its acceleration higher. This method can be tricky, but if done correctly, your tank can fly. Note: Enable the cornerslikemad code to increase the handling of the tank.

Listen to radio stations at any time:
If you have sufficient hard drive space, you can listen to the radio stations at any desired time. Insert the “Play” disc then click on “My Computer” and click on your CD drive. Enter the “Audio” folder to access a group of .WAV and .MP3 files. You can listen to any mission, radio station, or event. Copy them to your hard drive for smoother playback. You can hear everything (pedestrians, crashes, horns, etc) with a file on your hard drive in the “audio” folder in the game directory. There is a file called “sfx.raw” that can be opened in a .WAV file editor. Change the sampling rate to a lower setting and there will be a very long audio clip of everything there is to be heard in the game.

Custom music:
Copy some of your favorite MP3 files into the “mp3” folder in the game folder. Start the game and you will have a new radio station titled “mp3 player”. Choose it to hear your own selections.

Instead of copying your MP3 files to the “mp3” folder, just create shortcuts using Windows Explorer to the files inside your existing folder with MP3 files. The game will play all MP3 files the shortcuts are pointing to. This is very useful if you have large libraries of MP3s on CD and do not have the hard drive space for them.

Custom skin:
Open the “skin” folder in the main game folder. Copy the skin “playa2.bmp” into any desired folder, then rename it “playa3.bmp”. Open the “playa3.bmp”, into MS Paint, Adobe Photo Shop, or another graphics program. Re-color and customize it as desired, then copy it back into the “skin” folder in the main game folder. Start the game, go into “Player Options”, and choose your new skin.

More cars in garage:
You can fit more cars in your hideout’s garage than you are supposed to. In district two, the garage should only hold two cars but you can fit four in (or five if they are small). Park the first two besides each other next to the wall. Then, park each car after that next to the door. Get out and the door will open. Quickly drive the car in before the door shuts. Now all three or four cars are saved. In order for this to work you need to park them very close together.

Change size of moon:
Use a sniper rifle and aim at the moon. Shoot the moon and it will get bigger. When you shoot it again, it will get smaller.

Survive when under a car:
When someone runs over you with a car and you are stuck in the bottom, you will usually die. If you want to survive, press [Esc] to pause game play. Enable the turtoise and gesundheit codes, then enable the bangbangbang code. Press [Esc] to resume game play, then quickly press G to destroy the car. Then, enable the turtoise or gesundheit codes to get full health.

Get to any of the other islands early:
Go back to the bridge and walk past the road block without a car. When you get far enough up the road, enable the giveusatank code and turn the gun so it is pointing behind the tank. Enable the chittychittybb code, then shoot the cannon and drive until you fly off the bridge. If done correctly, you will hover over the broken part onto the other side.

Start a new game and do the Give Me Liberty, and Luigi’s Girls missions. Then, get a fast car and enable the chittychittybb and cornerslikemad codes. Once you are able to jump the Callahan Bridge (the one that is broken apart) and get to Staunton Island, save the game. Then, drive to the stadium on Staunton Island. Once you are near it, look for a tunnel with signs above it that read “Shoreside Vale”, and “Portland”. Follow that tunnel and turn left when you get the chance. Take that road and follow it until you get to the end. You are now in Shoreside Vale.

Intentionally die and end up at the hospital. Walk up the steps on to the road and get a car (or taxi if possible). Opposite the hospital is the University. Drive down the hill and take the left in to the University before the T-junction. Do a 180 degree turn so that the back of your car is at the top of the steps. Enable the cornerslikemad code, then drive forward and jump over the fence. If done correctly, you should end up on a platform. To your left should be a wall that is tiled. Move forward into the glass slowly. Your car will enter the glass wall and you will drop in the tunnels used in later missions.

Enable the chittychittybb code near a bridge, build up speed, and fly over. Note: You can continue to bring cars in and out of the islands, but every new car needs a code. For better chances, the enable cornerslikemad and press [Shift] to jump off the edge.

Enable the giveusatank and chittychittybb codes. Get in the Rhino tank and rotate the cannon barrel so that it is facing the rear of the tank. Drive to any long, straight strech of road. Accelerate while firing the cannon continually without stopping. Eventually, you will lift of the ground. Continue accelerating and shooting while in the air. With practice you can fly to and from the three islands with ease.

Staunton Island: Make cars disappear from parking lot:
Go to the multi-story parking lot and get in one of the cars. It does not matter what car you get in, as long as it is from the parking lot. Get in the car and drive to the top. Drive it onto the ramp. Do not go over the edge. Get out of the car and get on top of it. As soon as you get on the roof of the car, it should disappear and so should all the cars from the parking lot.

Alternate pause screen:
Notice the car in the pause menu background. Keep pausing the game and eventually a computer will be in the background.

Easy “infinite” run:
To get so your character never stops running at full speed, complete all twelve paramedic missions. These missions must be done consecutively with the same vehicle for that effect.

To easily complete the twelve paramedic missions, go to Staunton Island (as its a less complicated area than Shoreside Vale, and has less gangs that shoot cars than in Portland). At the hospital, enable the “Tank” code about a dozen times and park them around the car park so that they are out of the way. The PlayStation2’s memory is used up by the tanks, and there are will be no cars to collide with on the streets. Getting the twelve missions with the same ambulance should not be a problem. After this has been completed, enable the “Destroy all cars” code to return the game to normal.

Jump during chase:
Go to any ramp while chased by the police. The best ramp for this trick is the one at the end of Cedar Grove which lets you jump over the river. Jump while the police are close to you. While you are flying through the air, you will see the police right behind you.

Hitch a ride:
If you are close to a cop and do not want to steal a car, but you also do not want to walk, jump on top of a car and let them take you away.

To make your driver go faster, shoot the car that you are on top of. Note: If you shoot the car you will most likely fall off the car during a sharp turn.

To get a “speed boost” get a flamethrower and light the car on fire before you jump on.

Ride on top of cars:
When a car stops for a traffic light, jump on top of it to get a little ride.

Rear end cars out of your way:
When the Shoreside Vale bridge is lifted, rear end the car in the very front of the line and they will take a dive.

Cause an accident:
Equip the sniper rifle and go to the nearest traffic signal. Aim and fire at the traffic light. If done correctly, this should cause an accident of two cars or more.

Easy kills:
Jump onto any midsize car (not a big truck). You can stand on the hood of the car. From here, you can choose any gun and start shooting people while the car is still moving. This allows quick kills without walking, and the cops cannot get you.

Switch the control settings to “Standard” and set the target button to whatever is preferred (such as Right Mouse Button). Take out your shotgun and go to a location with mad people. Keep clicking target and shoot, making sure that you hit target first. Repeat this as fast as possible and you will not have to pump the shotgun, making it semi-automatic. You can kill about three people per second. Note: This only works under the standard control settings.

Race another vehicle:
Get an Uzi and a car that you want to race in. Go up to a vehicle that is stopped at a stop light. Aim your Uzi in the direction that the vehicle is on and quickly shoot it. The driver will get scared and will drive at top speed. Take off and race him or her. This works best on a two lane street.

Automatic shotgun:
When you have a shotgun with a ot of ammunition (over ten) and are surround by at least three or more people, you can turn the shotgun into a sort of automatic weapon. Face the group of people you want to kill. Hold the trigger, then keep pressing [Aim]. If timed and executed correctly, this will cause Tommy to continue to shoot without pumping the gun. This is also a good way to finish any rampage in which the shotgun is equipped.

Wanted level limits:
Four stars on Portland.
Five stars on Staunton Island.
Six stars on Shoreside Vale.

Wanted level to six stars:
Get an AK 47, grenades, molotov cocktails, sniper rifle and grenade launcher. Stand on a rooftop where police will find it difficult to reach you, such as the Staunton Island parking structure or the Portland dock warehouse. Start shooting people to get at least one to two stars. At two stars, the police will really start going after you. Use your grenade launcher or grenades and begin firing or throwing them at police cars. Continue doing this to get to at least five stars. The easiest way to get six stars is to shoot the helicopters or the FBI cars with your grenade launcher or grenades. You will soon see Rhino tanks and Barracks OL trucks headed in your direction.

Get about two or three stars to the point where the police are chasing you. Grab a car and drive directly in front of Ammu-Nation in Staunton Island. Make sure the Uzis are in stock and get lots of ammunition for them. Enable the “More money” or “All guns” code if needed. Once you have a lot of Uzi ammunition, go outsiden but make sure you health and armor is full. Hold [Aim] and even if you cannot see who you are shooting at, fire way. If done correctly, there will be a barricade of police cars there. After shooting all your ammunition or when at low health, go back in Ammu-Nation and fill up again. If you see that any of the cars have caught on fire, go back inside — once one explodes it cause a chain reaction. Repeat this to get lots of money and kills.

Remove wanted level:
When you have a wanted level and police are after you, go to your hideout in either Portland, Staunton Island, or Shoreside Vale. Save the game. As soon as your done saving, load the game and your wanted level will be gone.

Saving at unlocked locations:

If you cheat and go to Staunton Island or Shoreside Vale earlier than you are supposed to, you can save the game without having any missions there. Follow your radar. The icon that looks like a house is your hideout in that area, which allows you to save. Although you can save your game there, if you die you will return to Portland. If you wish to return to where you were, just load the game again.

Easy Vigilante missions:
When you get close enough to the criminal’s car, pause game play. When the game is resumed, the criminal will stop his car and get out. Then, just run him over or do a drive by shooting.

Packing Heat and Heimir:
Go to any island to do the vigilante mission. Instead of stealing a cop car, fed car, etc., enable the “Tank” code, press R3, then get out of the tank. Then, enable the “Destroy all cars” code, enable the “Tank” code again, then get out and enable the “Destroy all cars” code again. Repeat this twenty times on each island to get a total of six police bribes. Note: When enabling the “Destroy all cars” code, run away from the Rhino or surrounding cars — upon entering the code you may get back in the vehicle.

Start the vigilante mission and put the cop car in your garage. Enable the “Destroy all cars” cheat. That will destroy the criminal and your car. However, since your car is in the garage it will regenerate, allowing you to repeat the trick.

When in the police vehicle you are using to do the mission, drive until the target is quite close to you. Press Start to enter the menu, then resume the game. The target should get out the car and run away. Run him over to annihilate the target.

Easy fire truck missions:
Get inside the fire truck, press [Caps Lock] then press [F1]. Press [F1] again, and it will complete the mission. Do this repeatedly to pass the missions. Press [F1] when a new location appears.

Easy paramedic missions:
To have the easiest paramedic missions, do them all on Portland Island, before you do any missions in the game. By doing this, there will be no enemy gangs out to get you and destroy your vehicle.

When you are going to do the Paramedic missions, first take out the ambulance’s doors so that patients can enter faster.

Easy police missions:

A quick way to get all the police bribes for your hideout is to first steal a police car (or any other law enforcement car). Take it to your hideout, then enter “Vigilante”. Put the car in your garage and get out. Wait until the door closes, then enable the “Destroy all cars” code. This will kill the criminal. Enter back into the police car, which will be fine since it was in the garage. Repeat this as many times as needed. Since you get money for each criminal you kill, you may also want to do this when low on cash. This method can also be used with any other mission that requires you to destroy a car.

Taxi missions in other cars:
Get into a taxi and hold [Caps Lock]. Get out while still holding the key and walk to another car. Release [Caps Lock] when in the car. You can now do taxi missions in that new car.

You can also do this trick in the Paramedic, Fire, and Vigilante missions. You could also be a limo driver if you get in the Stretch during a taxi mission.

Fast taxi customer:
After car jacking any taxi, press [Caps Lock] to become a cab driver. At this point the person driving the cab that was just jacked will become a pedestrian looking to catch a cab. This will make your first passenger the old taxi driver.

Easy boat missions:
When taking a boat mission that requires you to destroy another boat, do not try and destroy it yourself. Just enable the “Destroy all cars” code and the mission completed message will appear.

There are two boat missions in which you must destroy an enemy boat. There is an M-16 that you can find in the second island, close to Donald Love’s building in an area with three parked cars. On the outside are some stairs. Go up the stairs, turn left, and jump up to the higher ground. Next, jump over the gap over the low wall, where you can find a M-16 and body armor. On the first boat mission where you must go after a speed boat, do not get in the police boat (it is slow). Instead, get in the speed boat and go after the other boat. When you get close, release the steering so the boat is still moving and you can move around on foot. Use your M-16 and blow up the other boat very fast. If you run out of ammunition, use other weapons. However, do not use the shotgun as you may also blow up your own boat. On the other boat mission, do the same thing. However, this is easier because the enemy boat is bigger and slower.

Easy rampage missions:
Have one star in your wanted level, then have a policeman follow you when you pick up the icon. When the rampage starts, the policeman will still follow you, but because he is there the gangs will not shoot at you, leaving you to freely pop them off without any trouble. However, you will get punched in the back of the head by a policeman at random.

Find a rampage, then find a tank. When the rampage, begins get into the tank and use it instead of the selected weapon.

Easy missions:
Many of the missions require you to blow up or destroy cars, items, etc. Use the Tank to make these types of missions easier. During some of the missions, cops chasing you can be the difference between completing the mission and failing. To eliminate this difficulty, enabled the “No wanted level” code while they are chasing you and they will stop.

Skip Kenji missions:
To skip the majority of the missions for Kenji, do the first mission for him then work for Ray. After enough missions for him, you will be able to work for Donald Love. One of Donald’s missions involves killing Kenji. Do it and you will have skipped three very hard missions.

Stealing police cars:
To easily steal police cars, press Triangle at the drivers side door. Then, as the policeman gets out, go to the passenger side and hop in.

Go to the passenger door and try to open it. The cop will get out and try to arrest you. Once he is out and closes his door, get in the passenger side and drive off. Note: You will have one star on you.

Steal bus with someone inside:
Find a bus driving around, steal it, hold X. You should start driving with the driver still in it. Switch to first person view mode and press R2 to see the driver.

Killing pedestrians:
Make sure you have the Uzi and some ammunition (drive-by purposes). Then, get a police car by whatever means. You can do this with a normal car, but a police car is recommended. Once you have a car, pull up next to another car, preferably a large one such as, a bus, diesel, etc. Make sure that this is a vehicle that you can keep up with, and that it handles badly at high speeds. Shoot the vehicle to get it running from you. Chase after it and use the siren to watch chaos ensue. Even though the CPU-driven car is going as fast as it can, it will still try to pull over. Use the siren for about a second, then turn it off for about three seconds and repeat. If done correctly, it will plow into people, cars, walls, and even you if you get in its way. Also, if it catches fire and explodes, watch out. Some of the other vehicles will try to run you down and give chase if the car explodes near them. Not all the cars act in this way, but you can trigger these actions if you are persistent.

Killing paramedics:
Beat up at least six people in the same area so they die in a pile. This will attract an ambulance and paramedics. When the paramedics exit the ambulance, jack it and run over them and any other pedestrians around the area. Note: You will get a wanted level of 1 or possibly 2 if a cop sees you.

Killing Ammunition store clerks:
Walk into any of the Ammunition stores. Make sure you have weapons. Draw a grenade, throw it towards the clerk, then run to the farthest corner of the store. You will hear the grenade explode. Walk over to the service desk and look at the clerk. He will be dead. This can also be done with other weapons, such as the sniper rifle.

Enter Army Surplus store early:
Go to the Army Surplus store. Go to the building on the right side. There is a little passage with a red crate blocking your way in. Get a car, and park it by the little concrete wall. Jump on top of the car, then jump on top of the little wall. Then, walk on top of it until you get inside. There is a Barracks OL inside.

Give drivers the finger:
While on foot, walk out in front of a car and you will eventually give that person the middle finger.

Press [Target] when on foot to show your middle finger.

Shoot out lights:
You can shoot out streetlights and traffic lights using the rocket launcher.

Matrix-type fights:
When you are on an adrenaline pill (when the small pill icon appears), get into a fist fight or have a shoot out with someone. The fight will have a Matrix-type effect.

Bust up cars:
After taking the adrenaline pill, running into any car will cause it to break apart, and eventually flip over if you push hard enough.

Lifting cars:
Make sure no one is in the car and take an adrenaline pill. When you are using the pills, run towards the car. The car will lift from the ground.

Funny sound effects:
Enable the “Slow game play” code several times, then enable the “All weapons” code. Use the flame thrower or molotov cocktails to burn someone to hear them scream and moan.

Dive out of the way:
When a police car or other law enforcement vehicle is speeding toward you, press Left or Right Square. Your character will sometimes dive out of the way.

Maria and Asuka double-teaming Fido:
When taking Maria and Asuka to the second island on the boat, get off the wheel and attack one of them to have them attack you. You will probably die as Maria has a Uzi and Asuka acts like she is a kickboxing champ.

Regain health with prostitute:

Car jack any vehicle and drive up to a prostitute walking the streets. Stop and let her approach the car, after a few seconds of talking, she will get in. Drive to a remote area where there are not any cops around (a good place is in your hideout). Stop the car, but do not get out. After about two seconds, the car will start rocking back and forth. You will recover approximately 40 to 50 points of health. When it is over, she will exit the car and walk away, but not before she charges you a fee. At this point you can beat her up and take back the money you just paid her. Note: The prostitute will fight back when you try to take your money back. If for any reason you both have to exit the car before it starts rocking, you will still be charged a fee (beat her up to take it back). You cannot do this with the same prostitute twice in one night — you can however, pick up another prostitute and recover more health. Even though the maximum amount of health points is 100 when you start the game, it increases to 125 after the encounter and remains that way.

When you pick up a prostitute and as soon as the car stops shaking, before the girl gets out, step on the gas slightly. She will not get out because the car is moving. If you stop right after, the car will start rocking again. This is a good way to save time when you are trying to get health back.

While around prostitutes, walk or drive in the road and stop to stop traffic. Make sure it is around a prostitute. While they are honking, a prostitute will walk up to an AI car, talk, and get in.

It is possible to pick up to three prostitutes at once: First, pick up one prostitute and ride around until you see another one. Get out, then get back in. Both hookers might get in. You can do this with up to three hookers if you have a big enough car.

Trap prostitute in garage:
Pick up a prostitute using a nice car (such the Banshee). And drive her back to your home and park the car in the garage. Get out of the car. She will get out your door as well. Walk out of the garage. If done correctly, the garage door will close and she will be trapped inside. Save the game and she will still be there. You can also do this with the taxi to trap passengers.

Extinguish yourself when on fire:
If you are on fire and you are about to die, get into a car and the flame will go out. It is better to get into a parked car because it is faster. If your car is on fire and you are near a garage (the save point or the Pay ‘N’ Spray), drive into the garage and close the door. When the door is opened, the flames will be out.

Airport boats:
Around the airport runway is a ramp that goes to the water. Once there, you will find a police boat or a speeder on the other side of the water. You can also drive the boat up to the dam and the other side of Staunton Island.

Get into the big airplanes:
Get a small car that has the top down. Go to one of the planes and drive under it. Get out of the car and you will have a view of the inside of the plane. Note: Once you get out of your car you cannot get back in.

Shoot down airplanes:
Enable the “Gore” code, then arm yourself with a rocket launcher. Drive (or walk) to a location in the path of the small airplane flying around the city. Portland is best location for a clear shot. When the plane is in range (basically directly on top of you), shoot a rocket at it. If you hit it, the plane will explode, the screen will flash and shake, and your wanted level will rise to four stars.

R/C Car big air:
Go to one of the Toyz vans to drive the R/C Car. Enable the “Pedestrians have weapons” and “Pedestrians riot” codes. Drive the car over one of the dead bodies and about 75% of the time you will be shot spinning, straight up in the air. You can get extremely high above some buildings.

Flying destruction:
Find lots of vehicles together during game play. Get far away from them then enter bang repeatedly as a code (more than the regular three times). When game play is resumed, anything with a motor will fly.

Walk on water:
Climb into any boat, then enable the “Invisible cars” code. It will appear as if you are walking on water.

Auto star:
Enable the “Change outfit” code and become a law officer. Punch someone or steal a car to get a star.

Cops shot in one star:
Jump on a car when a cop is chasing you on foot. The cop will shoot you.

Hit people with your gun:
Run up to a pedestrian, pull out a shotgun, and fire. If you were close enough, you will hit them into the air and shoot them.

Hold up people:
Walk in front of someone and hold [Aim] with a gun in your hand. They will surrender, put their hands up, then run. This usually works best with a normal handgun. Note: This does not work with everyone in Liberty City.

Pile of people:

Enable the “Faster game play” code twice, then enable the “All weapons” code and get a bat. Go to any sidewalk and start batting a person to death. More people will walk up to you. Just bat them as well. You will soon have a pile of people on the sidewalk.

Stop enemy gangs from shooting you:
Enable the “Change costume” code until you get a man who wears a rain hat (wide brim flat top), green full length trenchcoat, and has grayish black hair. Cartel members and other games will not shoot you or your car. Enemies will still shoot you if you jack their car. You can still get in to trouble with the law. This effect may end after you die.

Gang triggers:
The following missions will make the corresponding gang try to kill you.

Triads: The Pick Up
Diablos: Uzi Rider
Mafia: Sayonara Salvatore
Cartel: They already want you dead.

Attacking Landstalkers:
Ram and shoot the red Landstalkers on the second island. A group of them will start to attack you, as if they are another type of gang. This seems to work best around the construction site.

Free Pay ‘N Spray:

The first time you go into the Pay ‘N Spray shops it will cost $1000. Keep spraying the car until you notice that it is free.

Just before entering the Pay N’ Spray, enable the “Health” code. After the code is confirmed, drive into the Pay ‘N Spray for a free repair.

You can get a free paint job if you enter a Pay N’ Spray with a Mr. Whoopie ice cream truck.

Run farther:
The main character’s running distance depends on how much you exercise him. The more he runs, the farther he will be able to go without stopping.

Car alarms:

If enter a car and the alarm goes on, just get out of the car and wait for it to stop. After the car alarm stops, simply get back in the vehicle and you can drive away free of noise and suspicion from the cops.

Sniping location:
To avoid getting caught by the police while sniping, enable the “All weapons” code as many times as desired. Then, get on top of the police HQ and snipe from there. If a badge appears, enable the “Lower wanted level” code.

Avoid police chases:
After stealing police cars, you are relentlessly pursued by the police until you are captured or injured. In order to get around this, steal the police car (try smashing them until they get out to arrest you, and then jump in their car). Take the stolen police car to your garage (the condition does not matter), and save the game. When you return with the stolen police car later (from your garage), it will be viewed as a normal car by the police, but will still be able to do the Vigilante mission.

First, find badges. The best places to look are in the alleys and parking lots. If being chased in a car, and you are not about to explode, just keep running, and try to not kill anyone. Sometimes, if you drive around enough in harsh conditions, the cops will just stop chasing you. This only happens if you have one or two stars though. If you have around four or more stars, quickly find some badges. The cops are reckless around then, and will do anything to get you busted, or most likely killed, even if it means accidentally killing a few witnesses.

Get back to your hideout, save then game, then reload. The cops will be gone. This works no matter how high your wanted level has become.

Go into the Ammunition store while the cops are after you. The cops will not enter the store, and will eventually give up and walk away.

When you need to escape from the cops, enter the subway. The cops will never enter it and you will be safe, even with six stars in your wanted level.

Use the “Costume change” code and use any police uniform (FBI, SWAT, etc.), and no cop will attack if you kill a person.

An easier way to get rid of the cops is to hop on a train. This works for any amount on your wanted meter.

Drive into car crusher:
Get a car, and enable the cornerslikemad code. Drive towards the crusher from the sidewalk to the east, and use the horn to jump just at the edge. You can land in the crusher, which will crush you.

Increase accuracy rating:
Kill someone with the machine gun, then stand over him/her and keep shooting them.

Increase criminal rating:
Enable the “Weapon”, “Health”, and “Armor” codes. Go to the police station entrance in Staunton Island. Enable the “Increase wanted level” code until you have five stars. Blow up every car that approaches (rocket launcher recommended). Then, enable the “Decrease wanted level” code and go back to your hideout. Each time this is done, your criminal rating will increase by 50 points.

Wanted levels:
Wanted level 1 (One star): One cop or one cop car will chase you at a time. One cop gets out of the car. The cops will not shoot you unless you are on top of a vehicle, but will use their fists.

Wanted level 2 (Two stars): More cops will chase you at a time. Two cops get out of one car. The cops will shoot at you with a pistol. They will chase you more often.

Wanted level 3 (Three stars): Even more cops and one helicopter will chase you at a time. Two cops will get out of one car. The cops will shoot at you with a pistol. The cops will set up roadblocks with normal cop cars. They will chase you even more often and ram you more often if you are driving.

Wanted level 4 (Four stars): A lot of cops and one helicopter will chase you at a time. Two cops will get out of one car. The cops will shoot at you with a pistol. Sometimes the S.W.A.T. team will chase you in Enforcers. Four S.W.A.T. team men will get out of an Enforcer. They will shoot you with a Uzi. The cops (not the S.W.A.T team) will setup roadblocks with Enforcers. They will chase you often and will try to ram you or sometimes try to run you over (if you are on foot).

Wanted level 5 (Five stars): The FBI and two helicopters will chase you at a time. The FBI will chase you in FBI cars. Four FBI agents will get out of one FBI car. They will shoot at you with AK-47s. The FBI will setup roadblocks with dark gray FBI cars. They will chase you often, do a lot of ramming, and will try to run you over. The helicopters will shoot at you more often. You have to complete the last Portland mission and be able to go to Staunton Island by normal means (without cheating) to get a wanted level to this level.

Wanted level 6 (Six stars): This is the most dangerous wanted level. The Military and two helicopters will chase you at a time. The Military will chase you in Military vehicles. They are not as fast as FBI cars, but a lot more powerful. There is also an occasional tank. Two soldiers will get out of a Military vehicle at a time. They will shoot at you M-16s. The Military will setup roadblocks with Military vehicles. Unlike Grand Theft Auto 2, they will not setup tank roadblocks. They will chase you often, do a lot of ramming, and will try to run you over. The helicopters will shoot at you more often. You have to be able to get to Shoreside Vale by normal means (without cheating) to get a wanted level to this level.

Andy Peterson:
Start a new game, skip the opening sequence and when “Give Me Liberty” appears, pause game play and load a different saved game file. When done loading, you will be at your garage with the convict uniform from the start of the game.

Scared pedestrians:
Shoot cars with an M16 until they catch on fire. The person driving will accelerate and try to stop. Watch the car explode. The car might stop and the driver will get out and hit another car while the other car speeds up (before stopping and exploding).

Singing pedestrian:

Throughout the game, a pedestrian can be heard saying lines from Village People songs. He says things like “YMCA”, “In the navy”, “You can sail the seven seas”, and many more.

Forrest Gump pedestrian:
If you look around enough you will notice a pedestrian with reddish hair, a funny walk, blue shorts, and a white and blue Hawaiian-style T-shirt. Bump into him just enough to nudge and he will say things in a “Forrest Gump”-type voice. His phrases include “I’m gonna start joggin soon” and “I bet the diner’s open.”

Pedestrian with Rockstar hat:
Look around for a man that has a white coat and some kind of earmuffs or headphones. Take out the sniper rifle and try to zoom in on his hat. You should see the Rockstar logo on his hat.

Pedestrian with Rockstar shirt:

While in Staunton Island, near your hideout is a girl in a blue sweatshirt. She usually says “Hi, how are you?”. The Rockstar name appears across her chest.

Pedestrian with penis picture:
Walk around Staunton Island until you see a man carrying a folder. Use a sniper rifle and zoom in on the folder. A picture of a penis can be clearly seen.

Hit a pedestrian very far:

Load up on adrenaline pills while the game is slow motion mode. Use your fist and get in a fight with someone on the streets. Note: You can get chased buy the cops as this is violence. If you knock him down, he will go flying through the air. He will die or get back up again to fight.

Singing paramedics:
Kill a lot of people and the ambulance should appears. If you get stars, enable the the “No wanted level” code. The paramedics will jump out of the ambulance to heal the injured people. While they are healing the people, they will sing parts of songs from the radio.

Use a prostitute multiple times:
Pick up a prostitute then go into a Pay ‘N’ Spray. Immediately before you are done with her, back out and go back in. You will start doing her again and get another repaint. You will still get life, and the paint is still free.

Attracting prostitutes:
Go to the red light area in the Portland Industrial District and drive very slowly next to a prostitute. They will walk up to your car, bend over, and eventually go in.

The easiest pick up a prostitute is to drive a fine car. While taxis and cop cars do not attract them easily, cars such as Diablos and others will attract them more often.

Pick up two prostitutes at once:
Get a four door car such as a Landstalker or a Limo. Find two prostitutes that are together on the street and then have them enter the car. You will not get extra health.

Prostitutes following you:

There are two prostitutes that get inside your car, if it is in good shape. Get a valuable car and find any of these two ladies. When the lady comes near you, they will start looking down at your car. Accelerate your car forward few inches so that you are away from the lady. The lady will be coming forward to you so that she can get inside the car. When she gets near you, press [Enter] or F. She will follow you wherever you go. You could do this when you are in the car, but the they will not get inside the car. They will just follow you. Note: This trick can be done multiple times.

Get a prostitute to follow you on foot:
Pick up a prostitute in the usual way and increase your health to 125. When she gets out of the car and walks away, slowly follow alongside her without making her run away. Continue following her until she turns to walk back to your car. Before she gets back into the car, get out of the car and run a few feet away. She should follow you when you run and stand by you when you stop. She will not get back into a car with you, but if you get into a car and drive slowly. She will follow you, running behind the car. Be careful not to run her over. If you stop the car, she will try to stand by the car. You can look at her with the M-16, Sniper Rifle or Rocket Launcher, but she will run away and leave you if you aim auto-targeting weapons at her (such as the Uzi, AK-47, Shotgun, etc.). She will stay with you if you shoot pedestrians, gang members, etc., but will run away if you shoot someone who is fighting her. She will not start a fight or join in if you start fighting a bystander. However, if someone hits her she will fight back.

Prostitute’s chest:
Approach a prostitute and shoot her with a shotgun while she is facing you. After she gets shot, enable the “Lower wanted level” code if you get a star. Get the sniper rifle and zoom in at her chest. You can also do this when she is walking, but is more difficult.

Make pedestrians jump:

Get a car and drive it to an area where there is water close to a road. Next, drive your car to the edge while there are people around. Get out and push your car into the water. Wait until it explodes. All the people around will run into the water, trying to see the explosion and consequently drown themselves. They will float down there for awhile.

Just in front of Cochrane Dam is a passage with a ledge. People can be found walking on this at random times. Point a gun at them and they will run off.

Go to Asuka’s on Staunton Island and take one of the boats that are docked. Turn so you are facing Portland. Then, make a left and follow the Staunton Island coastline. Keep following it until you see the second small bridge. There will be a little inlet there. Turn into it and go to the right. Go to the end of it and take out a bazooka or a sniper rifle and shoot cars or people. If gang members come after you they will fall into the water. When pedestrians come to see what happened they will also fall in. Get a wanted level and watch the police fall in the water when they come after you.

Kill a lot of pedestrians:
Kill a pedestrian with a gun. Then, wait until everyone nearby approaches to see the dead person. Enable the “All weapons” code and select the rocket launcher. Get far back and blast everyone standing around the first dead person.

On one of the subway platforms, aim the Uzi or shotgun at a random pedestrian so that he or she runs onto the train track. They will either try to run back onto the platform or just stand there waiting for their fate. Sooner or later, the train will arrive resulting in possibly the most violent death in the game. Also, bizarrely, other pedestrians will then run over to see what has happened and will also die when they come into contact with the train, even though it is stopped.

Pickpockets:
There are two kinds of pickpockets in the game. One looks like a Nines gang member, but wears darker clothes. The second type has a black shirt and blue and white pants. When you see them pickpocket, aim at them with a gun and they will drop the money.

To attract pickpockets, go to Hepburn Heights and get a get a good car such as a Diablo. Drive slow and look for pickpockets. Honk the horn and after awhile they will approach, get in your car, and drive off. Arm your car with a bomb so when they drive off, the car will explode with them inside.

Police suicides:
At any island, get a car and drive as close as you can to a cliff. Get out and get behind the car. Run it into the water. Jump on top of the car after it explodes and get your wanted level up to any desired level. The cops will jump into the water in an attempt to get to you. Cars will also fly off the cliff and kill themselves.

Repeating thief:
Look around Liberty City for a white thief. Either start a fist fight or point a gun (handgun, Uzi, AK-47) at him. Sometimes he will say things such as” I’ll get ya get ya” and “What, are you nuts? Nuts!?”.

Banshee:

In the Portland area, go to the Capital Autos shop. Take a big car and ram it into the glass on the store to break it. Inside a Banshee, which is the fastest car in the game and resembles a Shelby.

Note: If the Banshee is not in the location where it is usually found, circle around the block once or twice and it will appear.

Blista:
The easiest place to get a Blista is at the paint shop in Stauton Island. Near the paint shop is a group of garages. When you are about to leave the alley there should be a Blista parked in one of the garages.

BP Barracks OL truck:
Ride the road by the water at Staunton Island. You will find a storage place with a lot of boxes. Go to the gate marked “Keep Out”. Enable the “Better driving skills” code, then drive in reverse and press L3 to jump over the gate. Get out to find a Barracks OL truck. It looks like a farm vehicle.

This car can only be obtained during the Arms Shortage mission. When you are in Phil’s compound, get into the Barracks OL and use it to block the Cartel cars. Then, kill all the Cartel. Check on Phil and you are done. Take the Barraacks OL and shoot it. It should be bulletproof.

BP Patriot: Bulletproof:
To get the bulletproof Patriot (Hummer), complete the Marked Man mission for Roy (the cop) the second time that you meet him.

BF Injector:
Complete the Mafia missions in story mode to unlock the BF Injector Buggy. Return to Portland and go to the Diablo parking lot (where the mission phone is located) between 19:00 to 24:00 to find the same buggy glimpsed in Joey’s garage from the Mafia mission. It will appear in the same location and change color each time. This car also has an alarm.

If you want to pick the color of the BF Injector, park a car with the desired color near the entrance of the building at the parking lot. The car does not appear to be scratched, other than the windshield when it hits something. It also never stays upside down.

Complete El Burro’s missions for the Diablos, and a new off-road buggy called the “BF Injector” will appear in the little block by the building by the phone.

Borgnine Taxi:
The Borgnine is a well built car or taxi. It is a brick red cabbie with spikes with blood on the bumpers. It is located in Harwood. Go to the head radio station. It usually is at the engine store next to the radio station after the game has been completed.

Get 100 taxi fares to get the Borgnine Taxi. The taxi is maroon and shaped like a cabbie. You will know when it is unlocked when the pager appears and tells you. You can go to Borgnine Taxi’s in Harwood and get a new type of taxi. You should have one star once you steal it due to the alarm. Note: The easiest place to get the fares done is in Staunton Island.

Borgnine Taxi: Spikes:
Look closely on the back bumper of the Borgnine taxi with a sniper rifle. Sometimes it has about seven spikes with blood on them.

Bus:
To get bus, which you will need for the list of cars in Portland Harbor, try to find a garbage truck. Since buses are very hard to find, try to find one of these instead. They are more common, and easier to find. Once you find one, drive it around awhile until you start to notice more garbage trucks appearing. Keep driving and you will soon see more vehicles of the same type; one of these is a bus. Be patient, and they will eventually appear if you are driving a garbage truck. Once you steal a bus, take it to the Portland Harbor garage and put it inside. If you walk outside, you will notice a red line through “bus” on the list.

Drive around for awhile with the Coach underneath the long bridge connecting Portland and Staunton Island. You should see it after awhile. It looks like an old school bus. Once you are in it, more of them will show up.

Cheetah: Bulletproof:
When the race starts in the Turismo mission, go to your hideout and park yourself inside a tank directly in the street. One of the cars is a Cheetah, and it will veer to the left and go into your garage area. Push the Cheetah into your garage and trap him there by leaving your tank in front of the garage door. When the race ends, he will remain in your garage and you can save the game. Note: Park many tanks in the street to better force him into your garage. Also put a lineup of tanks on the left and right side of your garage so he cannot get around you when he tries to leave.

Find the blue phone on the map (El Burro missions) in Hepburn Heights. Pick up the phone and go to the starting line. Do not stop on the blue dot or ram any of the other cars. Go to the brick wall next to the Callahan bridge. Enable the “Rhino tank” code then place it against the brick wall, even with the edge of the building to the right. Get a car and return to the starting line. Bump one of the racers or stop in the blue circle to start the race. The three Cheetahs will race through the first checkpoint next to the brick wall and slam into the tank. About 50% of the time, one car will flip. If they do not, ram the three of them until one flips over. You can now either destroy the other two and finish the race (but the flipped over Cheetah may disappear) or move the tank and let at least one finish the race. Do not move the car until the race is over, because the driver is still trying to race and the car flips back on it wheels very easily. After the race is over, take a car and ram the now empty, but locked, car into your garage. If your car starts on fire, enable the “Health” code. Once in your garage and after the door closes, the car will be unlocked.

Cheetah: Bulletproof, fireproof, explosion proof:
Get a Tank. Go to your hideout and take out anything that is in your garage. Then go to the El Burro phone and accept the Turismo mission. Drive the Tank to the purple marker, making sure not to blow any cars up on the line. Whenever the race starts, turn your tank around and high-tail it back to your hideout. Park it right by the entrance and wait there. After awhile, around “Race Time:170”, the cars will turn the corner. Run into one, causing it to explode. Then, push it into your garage. After it gets repaired, it will be bullet-proof, explosion proof, and fire proof. The only thing that destroys it is collisions.

After getting the bulletproof, fireproof, explosion proof Cheetah from the Turismo mission, fail the mission intentionally. Do not do the mission again until you reach the next city. After getting to to Staunton Island, go back and repeat the trick and get another special Cheetah. Repeat this process to get as many as desired.

Cheetah: Without completing the Mafia missions:
Clear the Mafia missions up to “The Chaperone”. Talk to Maria’s friend/drug dealer, Chico. If you have an Uzi, kill Chico. He will just stand there and die after the shots. Go to the party but do not go in the blue marker — park about 12 feet way from it. Look at the line of cars to the right and a Cheetah will be in between a Mantana and Patriot. Get in the Cheetah and punch it to your safehouse garage. Maria will not have gotten out of the car. Go back to the party and get the stretch ready to speed to Salvatore’s house.

Cheetah: Easy steal in Shoreside Vale:
Go to Cedar Grove near Catalina’s mansion. When you are near the curvy ramp, there should be houses down along the left side of the road leading to it. About five houses is a house with a medium sized driveway that ends at a garage. This house is white with a black roof. There is a Cheetah in the driveway that is always open, but be careful of the car alarm. If cops see you with it on, they will chase after you.

Colombian Cartel Cruiser:
The Cartel Cruiser can be found on Liberty Campus at Staunton Island.

Diablo Stallion:
The Diablo Stallion can be found in the Red Light District at Portland Island. It is a modified Stallion.

Dodo: Flying:
While on the runway of the airport in Shoreside Vale, you can get a dodo in one of the hangars. The easiest one is near the helicopter pad in the back of the airport. Bring it on the runway. Once there, back it up all the way to the end so that it is facing Staunton Island. Hold [Down] X. Note: Look toward the side view of the plane to get a better view before it scratches the ground and crashes. While accelerating, immediately before the plane’s nose sparks the ground is going its full speed, release every thing and the plane it will take off on its own. Once in the air, you are now able to use the cursor keys to steer the plane. Tap the keys and do not hold them for a safer flight. Keep the plane closer to the ground as it keeps trying to go up. However, every once in a while let it climb then do a nose dive to get more speed.

Dodo: Flip:

Get to full speed in the plane and fly along the beach in the west. Do a nose-dive and as you hit the ground, pull up and do not stop. If done correctly you should do a pathetically small loop-de-loop.

FBI car:
The only way to get the FBI car is to have five stars on the wanted meter. The FBI will come after you in purple FBI cars. It is a modified Kuruma.

Go to the railroad and you will notice only one of the two are actually used. Go to the other side from the loading platforms that are not used. You can sit on the edge of the railroad and kill people. Because of the railroad under you, they will not be able to shoot you (except for the occasional helicopter, which you will have to shoot down). You will be able to kill the FBI agents. When they get out, quickly jump in and drive to your save point.

Use the following trick to get an FBI car easily when you are trying to get all the law enforcement cars on the ship. Go to your hideout in Portland and stay just inside of the entrance to the street. Take out your weapons and start shooting cars that pass you by Rockets work very well. When you get your warning level to five stars, the FBI cars will come after you. They will be so out of control that they will crash into the wall in front of you. Run to the back of your hideout by the garage, then run back up to the FBI car. Get in and drive it the few feet to your garage and save the game. Then, load the game to get rid of all the cops and take it to the harbor.

Enable the “Tank” code and drive around, destroying things until you get four stars. When the FBI cars are flying at you, drive around the same block until they form a roadblock. Drive to it slowly and enable the “No wanted level” code. Get out of the tank and jack an FBI car before an agent gets in, then immediately drive away. Perform the “No wanted level” code again and you are done.

Note: The FBI cars get a free spray when taken to the Pay ‘N’ Spray at Staunton Island, behind the car storage unit.

Get a five star wanted level. If the cops start your car on fire, get out and get another car quickly. When the FBI arrives in their black Kurumas, stop and make them get out. Drive the opposite direction, then turn back around quickly. The FBI agents will be gone, and you can take their car easily. Then, enable the “Decrease wanted level” code and take it to your hideout.

There is a small bridge over a one way road on Stanton Island. Climb up it. Enable the “Full armor” code and repeat the “All weapons” codes to get 100 rocket launcher rounds. Either enable the “Increase wanted level” code or destroy lots of cars and people. When you get five stars on your wanted meter, kill the FBI agents near one of the FBI cars. Then, enable the “Decrease wanted level” code. When the police have gone, take the car and store it in your garage. Note: Sometimes a police officer or FBI agent will climb the stairs of the bridge. This is rare, but dangerous. Shoot the officer to death.

FBI car: Gray:
Get a FBI car and take it to Pay And Spray.

Flatbed:
A Flatbed is needed for the Import/Export garage in Portland harbor. Get the fire truck from Portland (near Capital Autos) and drive over the bridge to Staunton Island. Go to the Pan-Lantic Construction/Cartel gang area (to let the memory focus that you have a large vehicle, so it can match others with its size), then drive back to the bridge. Drive over the bridge back to Portland, and about half-way across you will see it/them. It looks exactly like a Barracks Ol.

Ice Cream Truck:
Go to Portland and do the “I Scream, You Scream” mission (after the Turismo mission) by El Burro. Pick up the briefcase, then go towards the dot. When you get there, hijack the Ice Cream Truck, drive it to Staunton Island, and park it in your garage. It will not fit in the Portland garage. Blow up the truck. You should fail the mission. Open, then close the garage and the Ice Cream Truck is all yours.

Go to Portland and do the “I Scream, You Scream” mission (after the Turismo mission) by El Burro. After you deliver the ice cream van to the docks and set off the music, step back and wait for the men to appear. Shoot them instead of detonating the van. You will pass the mission and get the Mr. Whoopee truck.

Drive around the Cartel Mansion (near your hideout/dam) in Shoreside Vale. Drive to the back of the mansion and wait near the gray areas of the mountains or on top of the hill. You will soon hear the familiar Ice Cream Truck song from Grand Theft Auto 2. If you are fast enough, you will see the Ice Cream Truck drive by. A fast car is recommended to chase after the truck — once it disappears from the screen you will not be able to see it again until another game cycle/day. The Ice Cream Truck appears at random times.

Do the fire truck missions until you find an Ice Cream Truck. Put out the fire, then get in it.

Kuruma:
In the beginning of the game when you have to go to Luigi’s for the first time, get out of the Kuruma. 8-Ball should still be talking. Enable the “All weapons” code. Get a Rocket Launcher or something similar and shoot the car. 8-Ball dies and you will start over again, but will get a brand new Kuruma. If you do this fast enough, 8-Ball still talks after he dies. You can also do this by just flipping upside-down, catching on fire, or falling into the water.

Mafia Sentinel:
The Mafia Sentinel can be found in Saint Mark’s at Portland Island or the Mafia hideout. It is a modified Sentinel.

Mannana:
This car can be obtained from the Skunk In The Trunk mission. Take it to your Portland garage and blow it up. It is now yours, complete with dead body.

Mr. Whoopie:
This car can be obtained during the Diablo missions. You will need it for Import/Export garage in Portland.

Do Vigilante mission 2 on Portland. You will have to chase a mr. Whoppee. Make it get stuck and when the suspect gets out, kill him and take the car to the Import/Export garage.

Start a fire truck mission. When you are in it, you will see a Mr. Whoopie. This may not work on the first mission, but keep trying and you will get it.

Police car:
During the night at the police station in Portland, one of the two police cars is unlocked most of the time. Get in it and steal it. You can get a wanted level if a cop sees you taking it.

Walk up to a police car with a someone in it and try to get in. It will be locked and he will chase you. Run immediately after trying to get into the car. When the cop starts chasing you, run away until you are a good distance away. Then, run into the police car and floor it.

Find a stopped police car on the street. Sneak up behind the car, then go to the driver’s side and press Triangle. Immediately, without hesitation, run around to the other side of the car. He will try to chase you around the back. Wait for about one second, then run back to the driver’s side. Get in, and punch the gas quickly. The cops try to cling to their car. If you want to hurt them, back up and hit him with the door.

Go to a parked police car on the passenger side. Try to open the door and it will not open. Wait about two seconds and try it again. It should now open. Then, drive up about twe
