Traffic Manager Review

Traffic Manager on PC is a strategic simulation game released on 3rd June 2011 by Excalibur Publishing Limited, developed by CyberPhobX.  This Traffic Manager game is different from the other traffic management titles, as in this game, it does not only focus on traffic control, but issues related to the transport infrastructure as well. This includes labor, hiring staff and equipment. Apart from that, it even focuses on road construction crews to heavy machinery, and paying your staff and managing your budget, which is an essential part of the game.

Storyline

In most cities, one of the main problems in common is the traffic congestion! In this game, you will be put in the role of traffic manager, who will be required to take control of a virtual city to manage the traffic by making all the decisions regarding the transport infrastructure. They will have to use all the means available in order to manage the traffic and make it convenient for pedestrians, automobiles and public transportation vehicles.

As mentioned above, the storyline is to manage the traffic congestion in your virtual city. You can build bigger roads to allow for more traffic to pass through, or establish traffic lights at a busy intersection. You can even decide and implement rules such as insisting that people only take public transport such as trams, buses and subways. This in turn increases your profit as well through the fares you generate. You must however keep your staff well paid; otherwise you might have to face consequences!

Game-play

Early on in the game, you need to plan out the routes that the traffic will take to pass through your city. This requires great strategic skills, as if you get the routes wrong, you won’t get positive feedback from all those vans that are delayed as they pass through. You will be required to create a perfect road system that not only avoids traffic jam, but also sets the flow of traffic.

As with every other city simulation game, growth of the city is preceded by the success of your decisions. This enables the user to make strategic moves in order to adapt and cope with the expanding population and growth of the city, as well as deal with weather conditions. Road accidents and other challenges will put your management skills to the test.

Graphics

The game features very simple graphics for enhanced virtual experience. It has elaborative options, which makes it easier to navigate to different options. However, it can be a bit too congested for some people, and at first glance does not have an eye catching outstanding graphics.

Conclusion

Will you have sufficient funds to repair damaged roads and keep the traffic flowing freely? Will you get positive feedback from the public and the city officials to hire you for another year, or will you end up at a dead end in your Traffic Management career? Play the game and you can find it out for yourself!
